Quote: Yea those are my two biggest concerns...wind messing with the tarps, and water pooling up. The water pooling up shouldn't be too much of an issue, or at all, I was mindful about such when I constructed the supports yesterday. I made it so the tarp/canopy should have an angle for the water to run down/drain away, but I'll find out on Friday after the "test run" during the brief rain coming through Friday morning. The wind....15mph to 20mph, just enough to make things a lil more difficult & worrisome lol. But the winds do calm down a few hours into the rain event, around midnight on Sunday night they start to settle. Once the main frontal band passes through the area the wind should settle, so they are only a concern during the first few hours of the rain/storm. Most of the rain from this system will be falling at night time, Sunday night, so I'm likely going to be up all night keeping an eye on things lol...I just dread the tarps failing somehow in the middle of the night in the pouring rain. I'm feel my canopy should work, just nervous about the whole ordeal since this is the first time I've had plants that will be vulnerable to rain/moisture. More than anything, I guess, I'm just wondering how easily/quickly cannabis flowers can rot from a bit of rain/moisture? This is the very first time I've ever had to deal with some proper rain/moisture, so I have no knowledge of how susceptible the flowers really are to rotting. I am not sure how wet they need to be and for how long for such to happen. Most of my plants have really dense flowers too. -OM .

Quote: Yea I was going to do that too .Just factoring in some wind and more perpetual water falling from the sky, and the surrounding air being more humid for a few days, the whole ordeal has me all wound up lol. Once I get the tarp up and see how it does with water I'll feel more at ease. Quote: That's kinda what I figured about it being really dependent on the strain/genetics. And that too was on my mind, the evening before the rain comes through I'm going to make the decision. Some are almost close enough that I almost wanna pull em', but I know how much better they can get if it works out. Will have to see what they do over the next few days. I'll likely end up taking a few branches from a few plants before the rain either way. I've already taken down my Sherblato and Ice Cream Cake last week. But everything else I'm looking forward to a lot more. The cake varieties are the ones that have the farthest to go (WC and Kush Cake), likely into November if they can. All of my random-seed plants are close but not quite there, really don't want to take em' down yet. I feel they can go to Halloween at least. The Mac1 I will likely take down tomorrow night, it is just about done. ....Well, at least what I am pretty sure is the "Mac1", tho it was labeled as "Kush-Cake". I think my clone dude mixed up my purchase. I wanted 2 Macs and 1 Kush-Cake. The two plants labeled as "Mac1", now that they've been flowering, their aroma has reminded me a lot more of a cake variety/essence than anything...as well as their "look"/structure. And the clone labeled as "Kush-Cake", it smells pretty unique and different from anything else I've smelled in a while (I've only had some mediocre Mac1 once from a store that didn't have a strong smell, so I'm not too familiar with its essence). I assume the dude mixed up those plants, and the one Kush-Cake clone I got is actually the Mac1. Which is a bummer because that plant, what I'm pretty certain is actually the Mac1, is my smallest plant but supa dank and a bit different. Extremely resinous/oily too. Barely gently touching a sugar leaf and it is as if the resin/oil instantly melts onto one's fingers. The type of flowers where I feel the expression "dripping in oil" is very fitting lol. It has a unique and interesting smell too that I can't really explain, and that's rare for me lol. And the two free "Wedding Cake" clones he gave me do not smell anything like the Wedding Cake I grew last year (which I got from him), or what I know as "wedding cake". They look pretty similar in form/structure to WC, but the smell is different. They are super dank looking, really chunky and oily, and have a slight essence that kinda reminds me of cake but they have more of a mild gassy/chemmy funk than anything. No complaints though, they are pretty dank looking and they were free and I'll think I should get 2/3rds to 3/4 of a pound from them, just wish I knew what was up with that. /mangosmile ramble. The stuff can get me rambling even more than usual lol. -OM .

Last night before I went to bed I checked the weather and it was supposed to be dry and pretty warm in the upper 70s today....
...as of last night there was no rain in the forecast for today at all, but it's raining pretty good right now with puddles and all. My plants are soaked .I really hope they dry off this by later this afternoon because I was planning on putting up the tarps this evening for the rain tomorrow morning. This rain right now, that was not in the forecast at all as of last night, really fucked up my plans because now my plants are soaking wet before I even got the tarps up...I don't want to have wet plants sitting under tarps the next several days. Had I known it was going to rain today like it is right now I would have had them covered last night. Might have to pull a lot of it down....but then I don't want to have wet branches/colas hanging up to dry either. This rain really fucked up everything I had planned out. ![]() -OM .

Quote: I did give it a test run yesterday, just to see how the tarps sit/hold on the supports. I wasn't going to leave the tarps up though because I want my plants to still receive sunlight over the next several days before the rain event on Sunday night, I don't want them sitting in dim/dark light for several days if it's dry out. I'm a bit of a weather geek/nerd, I'm really into the weather, I've been keeping track of the system coming in and it's not supposed to be here until Sunday evening/night, though there is a small/brief system passing through tomorrow morning. I am pretty familiar with the weather patterns/behavior in my area and the weather is rarely unpredictable in my area or rarely comes with a surprise, today was one of those days though. There was never any chance of rain in the forecast for today, even as of last night it was showing partly cloudy skies and temps around 79 for today, but a band of showers came through this morning. I saw it coming when I woke up but there was nothing I could do, I didn't have anywhere enough time to hang the tarps up. What a difference an hour makes though...since my last post the rain has stopped and the sun is coming out and patches of blue sky are opening up, there is even a slight breeze. Warm enough for shorts and no shirt. Everything seems to be drying out pretty quickly. I gave each branch on every plant a shake down, multiple rounds of shaking. All foliage is already dry, most buds are already dry too and sparkling in the sunlight but I do wonder how much moisture they retain on the inside. And yea...Temperature is another thing I was keeping my eye on, as far as what the temps are looking like after the rain this weekend, and if it's even worth it to cover the plants if it's not going to be warm enough for them to continue to ripen up after. It will be around 55 to 60 over this weekend while it is raining, but through next week there will be some days up the upper 60s to lower 70s with some sunshine. Down to 50 in the late night/morning...Def on the cool side but I feel it's just warm enough to keep em' chuggin' along. It has got down to around 40 at night a few nights over the past few weeks and my flowers are still swelling up and pushing out pistils, it's been warm enough during the day to keep em' going. Thanks for your advice and input, appreciate it! Depending how dried out everything is this evening, and how things look and how I feel about it all...I'm still planning on covering em' up with tarps later today for the rain coming tomorrow morning and Sunday night. I will be taking a few branches/colas off each plant this evening so I at least have a lil something in the event I do experience some rot/mold issues. It's completely sunny out now as I wrap up this post. -OM .

Quote: ![]() If I had the $ that's what I would have been doing over this past week. But I don't have much $ to work with RN so I had to use what ever I had on hand, which are giant reeds for supports and some random old tarps I have sitting around. In general if I had the $ that's how I would have had things set up from the beginning. I'm getting by on a dirt cheap budget though. This is also the first year I've had to deal with rain, all previous years that I've grown it hasn't rained at all during the fall. Next time around should be my most proper grow....and I do plan on having a green-house or at least a hoop-house built up around my plants next time. That probably won't happen for a few years though since I'm planning on moving/relocating after the new year and I don't know how long it will take for me to find a place to grow again .Which is another reason I really want a good harvest this time around...I want enough herb to last me the next 18+ months. -OM .

Feeling a bit of relief lol. It has turned out to be a warm & nice day. Even warmer & sunnier than it was initially supposed to be today.
Sunny. Temps in the low 80s, humidity around 38%, and a light wind. I don't see anymore days this warm happening again before the plants get chopped. Def enough to dry things out. The plants get direct sunlight for about 5.5 hours during the day, then partial light the rest of the day. I was worried this morning with that rain, not knowing how late into the day the showers might persist and if it was going to clear up at all through the day. It ended up raining for only about 40 minutes but it was coming down pretty good for a bit and that was the most rain my plants have been exposed to. The sun came out soon after that band of showers moved through. Tarps go on this evening. Brief showers tomorrow morning. Then Saturday I will likely chop some stuff down before the big storm moves through Sunday night/Monday Morning. Really going to try to keep some going as long as I can though.. I'm taking down my Mac1 tonight. Got a bunch of Sherlbato to trim, and Ice Cream Cake. Also need to get some jars, which will probably be impossible to find/sold out. Croptober is in full swing ![]() -OM .

Well, the rain has arrived....
And with how I have tarps/canopy rigged up over my plants it looks like the circus has arrived too lol. The tarps appear to be doing the job. The plants are dry after about 0.3 inch of rain this morning, though some portions of a few plants near the edge of the tarp have got a lil wet I'm not all that concerned and should be able to fix that later today. One of my plants is (or was) around 7 to 8 feet tall and it was a major pain in the ass trying to rig up a canopy over it (hard to explain) so I made the tough decision to sacrifice the top of it...I chopped the top about 2 feet down so I could get the rest of the plant covered. It hurt a lil bit, especially since that was the top cola from my largest plant, but if that means the rest of the plant can make it to the end then I suppose it's worth it. There is enough opening on the ends of the tarp for air to flow through...but later today and tomorrow, as soon as it stops raining, I will likely have a fan set up to keep air moving around. I took down my Mac1 last night....Ooof...That thing is so dang oily. Like the buds literally feel wet/drenched in oil, I've never had flowers that have such a soft/wet/oily texture to them like this plant does. It seems like the trichomes melt onto ones fingers instantly, and the flowers/foliage is really soft, makes them feel wet/soaked in oil. It's cray. Quote: I've used aloe before as a wetting agent. Aloe is great stuff as a foliar in general, has some minerals and hormones that the plants love. While in veg, middle of summer, after an aloe foliar spray my plants are super perked up and reaching for the sun. -OM .

Quote: I had heard/learned about this a while back... ...kinda forgot about that "fact" though and to hear it is again and be reminded about it, that's pretty interesting .Quote: I too just read about that a couple weeks or so ago. I was curious about, pretty much what we're talking about here, when a leaf turns purple/dark colors what sort of impact the different pigments coming out during the cold have on photosynthesis. We had a few cold nights this month, down to around 40, and a few of my plant started to turn purple weeks ago. The Ice Cream Cake in particular turned really beautiful colors in the cold and as it came to an end, golds & oranges & purples and blacks. I will eventually get pics up lol. My Wedding Cake last year was very purple as well, damn near black leaves. Quote: That could have something to do with it. I also think that some strains might produce trichomes that have a thinner membrane/shell and rupture more easily. And back to the terps & various compounds inside like you mention, perhaps those contribute to how easily that membrane/shell can rupture. The foliage around the buds/sugar leaves on this plant also seem to be very soft & supple in texture, while some other strains I've grow have had more rigid and sharp sugar leaves coming out of/around the buds. This plant def has a lot of oil though, the buds are soaked in it lol. I imagine it would produce A LOT of rosin. Can't wait to smoke it. -OM .

The calm before the storm....
It's actually a bit sunny today. I've lifted up the edge of the tarp so the plants can soak up some sunshine, they are still mostly covered but portions of the plants are getting direct sunlight. I'm pretty confident the tarps will do the job, the only thing I'm a bit worried about is the wind tomorrow during the storm (20mph winds with possible 30mph gusts. I'll have the edges of the tarps angled and anchored downward as much as I can. Fortunately the windy portion of the storm comes through the area before most of the heavy rain arrives, the most intense winds should settle down a bit by the time the heavy rain rolls through. Also, the winds will be coming up from the south mostly and the southern portion of my yard is sheltered pretty well by a wall of trees in my neighbors yard (tho I know winds can whip around all sorts of directions, my yard is more exposed/vulnerable to north/north westerly winds). I will chop a few colas this evening from a few plants just in case something goes awry during the storm. Going to be batten down thee hatches this evening, making sure everything is as secure as can be. The winds start up tomorrow morning and peak during the afternoon and then settle down by before midnight, the bulk of the rain arrives late night Sunday. The storm now appears that it will be moving out of the area early Monday but there will be a chance of thunderstorms Monday afternoon as it looks like the atmosphere will be pretty unstable in the wake of the storm. I'll likely be up pretty late tomorrow night just to keep on eye on things through out the night. Quote: Are you using those in that chamber just to kill mites & what not on clones that you bring into your grow space? Or are you planning on using those through out the grow? Off the top of my head, if I recall correctly, I kinda recall those being pretty toxic and not safe to use on anything that is for human consumption. Though maybe they can be "safely" used during veg? In the cannabis industry I'm pretty sure none of those are allowed to be used at all. Quote: Is that rosin? I can totally see the purple color to it in that pic. What are those golden/orange colored bits/specs? Or is that just air bubbles in the material? Here's some random pics I came across of pink/purple colored hash/rosin.... ![]() ![]() ![]() -OM .

Quote: Right on. Looks good. I've thought about doing some quick wash with some fresh frozen stuff. I've heard alcohol extracts can turn out pretty good when done right, quick & cold it seems is the trick. Quote: I gotcha. I just remember when I was dealing with mites last year I came across a few of those and they just stuck out in my mind as being some "heavy" pesticides/not for human consumption. I don't know much about em' though, never looked into em' all that much And yea...I am in the path of that AR. Though most of the dumping is happening a bit farther north of me, as well as the winds. About 2 inches of rain where I am with 20mph to 30mph winds, but some areas just a bit farther north will likely get 10+inchs of rain and 50mph gusts....It has been pretty windy so far today but not as bad as I thought it was going to be, the worst of the winds should peak within an hour or so the start to settle. The wind is what I was most worried about, specifically concerned about the reeds/supports snapping or failing somehow from the added weight/pressure/stress of the wind blowing on the tarps. So once that passes I'll feel a bit more at ease. The plants are covered pretty well otherwise and the rain shouldn't be an issue. I smoked some of the Mac1 for the first time today, a bud I pulled early about 6 days ago. Stuff is nice. Pretty potent and has me lit & floating but it is a really focused high, has some energy to it too it seems. -OM .

Quote: Cool! I was actually wondering about that. I had never heard of either of the parents in that cross and just haven't got around to looking it up. Quote: I was getting Afgooey back around 07 too, 06-ish to 09-ish. That was one of the regular/common strains that was around my area back then. My friend sold herb back then and that was one he had from time to time. I vaguely remember it having a classing sweet-kush-hashy-incense taste, like some "good ol' weed", a classic "weed" flavor. Tight resinous buds...It's been so long since I've had it though I forget its exact character, I do remember liking it a lot tho lol. This storm seems to not be nearly as gnarly as it was looking like it was going to be, at least in my little region/micro climate. I do kinda sit in a rain-shadow. Depending on the direction/orientation of the storm, sometimes the coastal mountain range to the west soaks up a lot of the moisture/energy of incoming storms. No doubt the northern parts of the state have got hammered tho...and I'm sure we'll still get a good soaking rain later tonight, but so far it hasn't been anything much besides some gusty winds. Seems like the winds are starting to calm down now too over the past hour or so. -OM .

The storm has passed...The sun is shining, light breeze.
I can't wait to pull the tarps off so my plants can soak up some pure sunshine. It was raining pretty heavily all night long, def turned out to be a hefty storm. From about 9pm last night until about an hour ago it was coming down the entire time, basically 12 hours of persistent rain. Pretty sure we got around at least 2.5 inches of rain. My plants are 100% dry though . I checked on em' a few times through out the night, it was nice seeing them all cozy & dry under the tarps while it was absolutely dumping pouring rain around them all night. -OM .

Quote: I've been loosely following the chit chat between y'all about breeding and using silver & what not. Haven't been able to keep up with it all or comment though. I can't wait to start playing around with such! It is going to be at least a couple years before then, but that's a whole other aspect of this passion/hobby I'm looking forward too getting into. I want to play around with crossing landrace or old school varieties with some of the modern strains that I enjoy. And just in general there are many ways I'd like to play around with crossing & breeding. I too have always thought one would really have to be strict and on top of keeping everything documented and labeled, and that things can get complicated & difficult to keep track of after a while. Even more so if one is working on more than one project at a time. Smoked some more Mac1 as my first/day smoke today...I love this stuff. One of the most resinous strains I've grown, unique aroma, potent & rich, smooth euphoric heady/energetic high. Not jittery/edgy/racy at all tho, supa smooth. And the bud I smoked was a lower/small nug and cut 6 days before the rest of the plant, can't wait to sample the other portion of the plant. -OM ![]() .

Open question to the thread....
As far as mold/rot/fungi in the buds due to humidity/moisture, what should I be looking out for? Or is there no way to tell unless one cuts open a flower? Like with rot caused by caterpillars, I usually see a little dead sugar leaf or a slight brown spot/bract on the flower. Does it usually start deep inside the flower? Or is it something that can be seen on the outside of the flower in the early stages? Does it appear any different from rot/mold that is introduced by caterpillars? I know there are many different types of molds/mildews/fungi that can infect a flower/plant so hard to say, but just wondering as a general rule of thumb or what the most common mold/fungi infections might look like...?... The reason I ask...I was removing fan leaves from a branch that snapped last night getting it ready to hang up to dry, and spotted a lil bit of rot in one of the buds. The rot appears to me to be caused by a caterpillar though. Not 100% positive, but it looked pretty similar to the sort of rot I see when caterpillars eat into and shit inside a flower. Pretty sure I even spotted some chew/borrow marks, but again it was hard to tell. Just wondering how one might be able to differentiate the cause of the rot between a caterpillar or humidity/moisture? Or if that is even possible? Because if it was caused by humidity/moisture alone that makes me want to pull my plants really soon....but if it was just a nug that a cat crawled up into I'm not that worried about it. The days through out this week are going to be clear & dry & sunny, and up into the low 70s, plenty nice & warm to keep the plants going but the high humidity at night has me just a lil concerned....Since we got that dumping of rain there is now a lot more moisture present and the late night & early mornings will be damp from dew/condensation (with temps getting down to about 55 to 50 by morning). I'm going to try rigging up a fan though to keep air blowing over the plants at night, see if that helps with lessening the amount of dew/condensation that forms on the plants late at night/early morning. -OM .

Quote: Iz all good...I know indoor & outdoor are different games. I'm out of my element when y'all are chattin' about lights & indoor stuff lol. I found another spot of rot on the same plant today. I spotted it by seeing just a lil brown spot and a withered sugar leaf, no grey/fuzzy mold. Pretty sure this too was just damage/rot from a caterpillar instead of rot from ambient moisture, though I'm sure the high humidity at night will only help speed up the spread of such. I cut out the bract/chunk that was rotted. I do feel that the two spots of rot I've found so far is from caterpillars, looks just like the sort of damage & rot I've seen before from caterpillars (brown/dead looking spot/bract seen on the outside of the bud) but I do wonder if it could be caused by the moisture in the air because this is the very first time I've had plants go through a cool & somewhat moist weather near harvest (it has always been dry this time of year for me, last year it was still in the 80s & even 90s around now and no rain until like December). I usually have a few spots of caterpillars damage and I did stop with applying BT around the end of last month, so if that's what it is, and that's what I feel it is, I'm not too worried about it. I looked over all the tops on my plants and they all look nice & vibrant, not seeing any signs of anything on the outside of the colas. There is such nice days ahead this week, sunny & warm & dry (humidity is 48% right now)...but the late night & early mornings will be damp from dew/condensation. I still going to let em' go for at least several more days. Hoping the fan at night helps with lessening the amount of condensation on em'. -OM .

Quote: The caterpillars in my area go right into the buds it seems. They don't mind the trichomes at all and eat right through them. I rarely ever see any damage to leaves. I wonder about what their digestion/metabolism is like lol, chomping down trichomes/foliage full of potent resin. Quote: I'm somewhat familiar with WPM, at least what it looks like, I've never encountered it myself though. That's another thing I was wondering...if I would start to see mildew & what not on my leaves before rot in the buds? And yea...caterpillars do seem to find the best looking tops/colas, and then chew/burrow their way inside. The couple spots I've seen so far were on some lower buds, but in general over the years it does seem like they target the best & most prime colas and they go right into the heart of it. The cats in my area go into the bud, not just a nibble on the outside, they eat into and through out the inside of the bud and shit inside it...I believe is is their shit that is the vector/where the rot is introduced. Because even when it's very dry in my area (humidity down in the teens), caterpillars will cause portions of the bud to "rot". I don't use any neem oil or anything neem related at all...but I do use essential oils (rosemary, clove, peppermint, lavender, etc) and other plant oils (sesame, corn, etc) through veg & early flower as an all around pest repellent/killer (works for mites and most other common insects/pests in my area). I also use BT for caterpillars (tho I stopped applying it a while ago). And I have used spinosad a few times over the years. And Dr. Zymes, which is enzyme/citric acid based. -OM .

Quote: That's kinda what I figured, that by the time one is seeing signs of such on the outside of a flower it's too late/insides are full of rot. I looked over my colas yesterday before sunset again and I feel they're fine. The two spots of rot that I have spotted so far on the one plant I saw pretty easily (knowing what to look for at least, I can see how one might not notice it if they aren't paying attention), and I'm not seeing any other spots (tho I wouldn't be surprised at all if there are a few more spots of rot from caterpillars that I find by the time I get around to trimming). The late night/morning dew has me a little concerned but not very...It seems to accumulate on the leaves mostly and the buds themselves don't actually get soaked or wet. The plants have dew on em' from about 1am to 10am, by mid/late morning the plants are dry and humidity is down into the 50s by the afternoon. Since it is so dry & warm & sunny during the day time I'm not too worried about it, if the plants were sitting in damp/cloudy conditions for several days in a row and never drying out I would be more concerned. It's going to be in the 70s the next 3 days, I'm going to let them soak up these next few warm/sunny days then chop just about everything either Friday morning before sunrise or Saturday morning before sunrise. Actually probably late night before the dew forms on the plants instead of early morning, so I'm not harvesting colas with a bunch of moisture on em'. I can officially see the finish line. My buds have swelled up A LOT over the past few days. Got super chunky & really packing on the resin. I know many strains will swell up a lot towards the tail end, but I've wondered if my plants sitting in darkness/very dim light under the tarps for 4 days played any role in that. I've heard of indoor growers leaving their plants in total darkness for a day or two before harvesting, not sure what impact darkness like that might have on the plants. And I was wondering about that, how your situation with the mites on those plants was going. They are spider mites, yeah? Quote: BT is my go to for caterpillars. Targets them specifically. I just slowed down on applying it as my plants got deeper into flowering, tho I know it's not a big deal to spray BT when plants are flowering. Yea outdoor has a lot of ups & downs and lots of variables always changing...I've always grown on an extremely tight budget too (I've spent no more then $250 in total for everything so far this grow, tho I should end up with like 3 to 4 pounds at least). If I had the $ to do things how I would like to and could afford everything I want/need, I would have way less issues. Like if I was able to build a hoop house or a green house I wouldn't have been concerned about the rain. Or if I could afford the bio-pesticides I want, I would have just about zero worries about mites. After growing outdoors for several years now, and learning a lot, I feel that I can really have things dialed in proper when ever I have enough funds $ to do everything proper how I want. Every year I've grown I've improved & done a bit better and learned a lot. In some ways, growing on a dirt cheap minimal budget the past several years has helped me experience and learn a lot more than I would have otherwise. Learning how to grow plants with basically what I have on hand and around me. -OM .

Quote: True. I just don't think any mold has germinated yet inside the buds from humidity/moisture alone (fingers crossed lol), I don't think it's been wet enough and for a long enough period of time for mold to germinate/spread through the insides of the flowers. The spots of mold/rot I've found so far appears to me to be caused by caterpillars, I can see chew marks and caterpillar shit around the spots. With that said though...I really don't know "how much it takes" for a flower to start to rot or how quickly rot sets in, or what strains/genetics are more resilient to rot/mold than others , how resistant a plant can be to rot/mold or how prone it is to such. I hear stories of some folks having plants sit in rain for several days and not having any issues with rot, while it seems that other folks have flowers that start to rot with just the slightest hint of humidity. I just don't have any sort of experience or reference points in regards to how easily or how quickly a flower can rot, no doubt lots of variables at play though.I have relatively little experience with plants going through damp nights/mornings so I don't know how risky I'm being with letting my plants go a few more days. The pasts several years my plants usually do have some dew on them for a few nights/mornings when getting close to harvest, so I do have some experience with damp mornings/dew on the plants, but overall there has been way more ambient moisture present this year in general compared to the last several years. I ended up harvesting a portion of several of my plants last night just to be safe. I'm going to let the rest go until Friday or Saturday night. Def the most chunky/fattest tops I've ever had, super dense too. Out of curiosity, I am going to leave one fat bud or cola on a few plants to go for at least another week or two longer than everything else, just to see if they develop any rot/mold going deeper into the fall season. To learn how well these strains actually stand up to damp/humid conditions. Quote: Using all those powerful miticides, I do feel that's a bit overkill, but yea I think that should do the trick . Seems like you indoor growers actually have a lot more trouble with irradiating mites than I do growing outdoors, but I suppose one would need to irradiate/wipe them out from the entire grow space, the walls the floor, everything? The past two years I've just used some essential oils to kill and wipe out mites, pretty cheap and it has worked wonderfully for me. I wiped out mites off my Mac1 plant this year and kept them irradiated, and last year the essential oils helped me to irradiate them from all of my plants. And the mites I was dealing with were hemp/russets (possibly some broad mites too), which are teeny tiny and I think are even more pesky to get rid of than spider mites (I've never encountered spider mites tho, so I don't know from experience). I have some before and after pics of my Mac1 I'll post when ever I get around to posting pics again....when it was a "teen" sized clone the top portion of the plant was totally infested/dusted with mites, after a couple spray downs with essential oils they were gone entirely and the plant grew up just fine. I would think a simple spray down of essential oils on your clones would do the trick to kill mites and any other pests on em'. -OM .

Quote: Same. My usual is a small bong. I really prefer the smoke to be cooled a bit by water, I like taking fat rips and I can't do that from a dry piece. I smoked out of a dry glass pipe a few months ago for the first time in a long time, and the smoke was way hotter than I am used to. I really love joints too though...but I usually only smoke them when hanging with a friend/sharing a smoke session. Confession...I've been smoking herb daily for 10 years now, but I am still horrible at rolling a J lol. I've only rolled maybe 10 joints in my life lol. I'm so bad at it that I have friends do it. Quote: When I go back to flower after a stretch of dabbing, for some reason the flower gets me waaay more high than the dabs do. Just something about flower has a richer effect for me, something about flower hits the spot and hits harder than dabs do. Unless one is doing multiple fat globs through the day every day lol, then I can see one's tolerance being totally wrecked. Quote: I don't mind it much. I find harvesting/trimming to be meditative, I get "in the zone"/"in the moment" with music playing and just vibe out. That said though...I'm already behind on trimming this Croptober/harvest season lol. I've had two plants hanging that need to be trimmed for several days now, I need to get em' into jars soon and the buds are still on the branches. This year I'm just really not feeling it as much lol. Hard for me to "get in gear" and get the stuff done. I'm likely just going to do a quick once over trim on my buds again this year, just a rough/quick trim, I've got so much to break down and it is only my hands/fingers doing all the work, and it is all my own personal smoke so I don't need the flowers to look perfect or shaved down. Quote: Quote: Since I've grown, and now that I have virtually bottomless jars of herb, I'm kinda the same way lol. I used to roast a bowl until it was totally cashed/ash, until there was no more green and nothing left to burn to the point it snaps/pulls through the bottom. These days, I just pack a good sized rip in my bowl and rip it once...if there is still some green/unburned herb I still blow it out of the bowl and just pack another. So I'm not quite on the level of leaving 1/2 smoked joints or portions of nugs unburned, but I don't rip a bong bowl more than once lol. Once the herb has been toasted I have no desire or reason to hit it again. I also have an old friend that always rolls fat joints like that, like the size of a fat finger, where the paper can barely wrap around it...Dude's name was Jimmy, we called them "Jimmy Joints" lol. On the topic of this chit chat about smoking methods... I am really trying to get a vaporizer sometime in the near future, ideally a volcano. A friend of mine had one years ago and I loved that thing, super efficient and gives a really nice clean/rich high....I will still smoke, I really enjoy the act of smoking, but day to day at home I'd prefer to vape mostly. Those volcanos can create super thick fat clouds of vapor, great flavor too. They're expensive though and they hold onto their value when being re-sold, even used they tend to cost $300+. I'm hoping to find someone local that is willing to make a trade for a Volcano, trading some flowers/edibles. -OM .
