Does anybody grow in coir?
I’m just getting into growing weed and keep seeing conflicting information about feeding coir. The main site I read is dedicated to coir growing and says to feed seedlings once or twice a day and that the coir should always stay around 90% saturated.
But then on other sites I see people saying you can over water coir and that you should still let it dry out somewhat which makes sense to me cuz that’s what makes the roots grow right?

Well mostly just because I like to try a bunch of different stuff and I have tons of coir around for mushrooms, but the massively increased growth speed sounds pretty good too.
I have four going in soil and then came across the stuff about coir so I started two more. I made a ton of mistakes but I’ve got everything sorted out now. Just got ffof soil today and finally have the right pots/nutes/meters/lights. The first couple plants started in pots that were too big and then my tap water has crazy high ph which was doing weird stuff to the plants but the last week or two everything looks pretty good.
I actually just topped the biggest one today. I’m planning on topping and lst one and manifolding one with the two oldest plants.

Thanks man.
Yeah it’s way way more complex than I was expecting when I started. I was thinking I’d throw some seeds in a pot and water them
This is the stuff I’m using, pretty common I think.

There’s definitely a ton of information but that’s cool I feel just like when I was starting mush cult. Read read read.
They’re all regular layer cake X Chocolate nightmare except the back left is fem triple cheese.
I only ever grew a plant once in high school with cfls and I forgot how bad they stink. I wasn’t expecting anything noticeable until flower but my whole grow room has that sweet funk already.
I immortalized my first leaf that came off when I topped

I’ve got auto cheese cbd supposed to be here any minute.
It’s been a long time since I was waiting on the mailman
I think I’m going to order solomatic next. I hate high thc type stuff it makes me crazy nervous and paranoid most of the time.
Recently I’ve been really into cbd and terpenes. I got some live resin high in Linalool and myrcene with 70% thc that I’ve been sticking onto bud with i think 14% cbd and 1% thc that’s working great for me.
I know it sounds really weird but I’m on a mission to duplicate the high from pipe resin. Back when I smoked all day before it started marking me anxious I used to love cleaning out my downstem and getting a few giant bong rips of resin. It tastes gross but for me the high was fantastic.
My guess is that it had a lot of terpenes with high melting points. So my game plan for now is to get pure cbd bud and make hash from it and then mix that with regular bud that’s got high levels of whatever terpenes. Gonna be a long project lol.

All about those terpenes
I just tried live resin for the first time, it’s some good stuff.
It’s so sad stripping my plants down for manifold went from big and beautiful to a stick with two leaves lol.

The redwoods are one of the coolest places in the world imo. Good call id love to live up there too.
Damn hobbit are you topping the autos multiple times? I still have trouble seeing how the plants grow and what’s normal and what’s been manipulated.
That ashtray was just this cheap mold and bottle of clear resin I bought on amazon. People make some really cool stuff with it. I tried making one before that with a giant spore print that covered the whole bowl but the spores kinda washed off.

I just now got this vape cart called jungle juice that’s got a good buzz to it. Something like 53% cbd and 45% thc which a decent amount of a few relaxing terpenes. Got me way higher than I expected from that cbd thc ratio but totally clearheaded.
I think I’ve officially got every training method going on now
Ones topped, ones starting a manifold, ones fimmed, and ones super cropped. Now to wait for this explosive bushy growth I keep reading about.

It’s amazing how fast it came back from that super crop. I checked it about 4.5 hours later and it’s already got the arch going from turning back towards the light.
I really want to try super cropping one into a tight zig zag. Like bent opposite ways every inch or two. I’m sure it’s been done but I couldn’t find any pictures online.

Lol that’s a good way to do sprouts and flower together.
The small pot is what made them stay smaller right?
My first two autos popped out of the soil today I can’t decide if I should put them in 2 or 3 gallon pots though.
So far the speed of coir is living up to the hype. This plant at 15 days is twice the size the seeds I started in gallon pots of soil were.

It also came out of the ground larger than normal too so it might just be genetic.

That’s what’s going on with me too.
The second node fan leaves are bigger than anything on my 6-7 node tall soil plants.
I hate when I do things with too many variables to tell what’s causing something.

The plants that I topped have a lot more secondary growth going on now, but I also switched from a garbage Chinese led to a real light the same day I cut them.
I just found out about colloidal silver and how cheap it is and now I’m super stoked for making seeds

Is it normal for the leaves to go almost vertical in the morning?
They’ve dropped a little bit since I woke up but still making the Y shape.

The solo cup grows are crazy I was checking those out the other day. Seems like most of them are coir grows where the guy ends up feeding them 6+ times a day during flower.

Lol I was gonna do some outside too until I decided it’s not worth the risk with the smell that it would put off. Especially with the mush cult stuff going on too it’s just not smart.
Keeping them out of site is easy but that stink is too much.
It’s perfect too cuz my dog dug this hole that’s 3x2’ and close to 3’ deep. I was just gonna drop a 5 gallon pot in there and put some ferns or something around the hole.

I can’t wait to flower these. Really hope I don’t get more than one or two males.

I have no idea how big they’ll end up but I figure I’d rather have them too big and cut them back than too small.
I’m thinking maybe two more weeks. Should be able to do the last top for the manifold in a day or two.
Also I have no idea if the fim on the middle plant worked. So far it just looks like mutilated leaves

Yeah I figured something wasn’t right. I cut really low like the guides say but I’ll try lower next time.
This is right when I did it.

When it works the secondary branches on the two nodes that get cut should turn into mains right?
Idk what the deal is but nobody seems to know anything about fimming. On the weed sites I’m on they keep saying it’s a good fim and supposed to look like this but there’s no way. It’s not even bushing out like the ones I topped.

lol it’s also weird to me that enough people fucked up topping that it got it’s own name. Topping is super easy I just don’t see how it’s so common to miss unless you’re trying to top asap and it’s just a little nub in the middle still.

Supposedly you can get 3-6 or some people claimed 8 or 9 main shoots instead of 2 from topping. Also it’s supposed to make it bush out more than topping too. Lotta big claims with fimming lol.
I just topped that failed fim plant.
I did try a new fim on a different one and cut it as low as possible. Instead of a little tuft of leaves it’s kinda just four stem nubs this time.
What I don’t get is every fim guide I check looks exactly like mine. It’s like the plant just decided not to cooperate lol.

I’m pretty sure my new fim will work. It already had the tiny secondary growth starting when I cut it.
You guys ever transplant autos? I’ve read that it ruins them and that it makes them better
I haven’t noticed any shock or slowed growth from transplanting my other ones so I decided to run two autos. Started both in cups but moved one to a 2 gallon soon as the second leaves started.
The other is still in the little cup. Gonna wait for third node then go to one gallon then two.
It was super annoying to learn how much growth is slowed by using big pots right after I had two photos sprout in gallon pots. Even though that’s not very big they still didn’t grow forever while the roots spread.

Hobbit GDF said: i always plant my autos in there forever home. usually 4gal fabric pot. ive been trying 2gal fabric pots but i havent had a harvest in them yet. ive noticed , even on my big autos, the roots rarely extend to the bottom of my 4 gallon pots. i do alot of stuff to my autos your not supposed to do. as long as its a strong plant and healthy, and your gentle , the transplant should go fine without much shock or stress. they only say that because autoflowering cannabis has a set timeline. so if you stress her out for a week or 2, thats alot of the timeline and can fuck up yields.
you have to just be careful watering a small plant in a big container. they dont need the whole pot soaked ya know. thats how ppl stunt them too. overwatering. i dont do much transplanting for my girls. i most always go from seed to forever home. 2, 3, 4, 5 gallon fabric pots. i choose one and keep it there till harvest.
here are my plant updates
the last one is an auto^^^^
here are my tents and i harvested my Girl Scout Cookies Auto (freebie)

Man idk how you get such fat stalks. How old are the plants in the first two pictures?
Mine are way behind since I didn’t know what I was doing but now they’re moving pretty quick and actually starting to look decent. So stoked to finally be getting bud sites to train up.
I’m liking super cropping so far. You can untie it after a week or so and it makes the plant stronger. This one finally got a knuckle started so I tied down the top again. It looks crazy lol. I’m gonna try and get it circle all the way around but I’ll prob end up just super cropping it instead of lst.

Is silica worth getting?
For coco I’m just using calmag and the GH Flora trio.
I also realized the other day that I totally misread the ppm/EC stuff and had been feeding way over the recommended amount. Early veg was 770ppm. Plant seems to love it though.

The one with the three colas looks like it’s got serious potential. I’d be cloning a ton for sure lol.
What strain?
And how far away can you smell those things outside??
I finally made some training progress. Sooo much better now that I’m past the sitting around watching seedlings grow roots part

Ok so I think my second fim attempt worked. This time it was cut low enough that the fan leaves on one node got cut off before I could even see them starting, there’s just a little stump.
What do you guys think, did it work this time?

It almost looks like there could be 5 mains now if the middle one and the shoots on the two nodes keep going.
