Looking nice and healthy for tomorrows re-potting..
:happyweed:

Have only come across a male plant once last year & promptly cut it down, once I saw pollen sacs all the way up & down the plant.
Not sure about this one, am I right in thinking that these balls on the top node of the one in the blue pot are male pre-flowers?

Would it be worth trying to top the plant just above the node that is below the two fan leaves the balls are clustered around?

@Ran-d
I figured that was the case. Just wishful thinking, considering that all these plants germinated from seeds off last years self seeded herm.
After looking into it a bit more I see that it’s easier to have a female plant herm in stressful conditions as opposed to the other way around without the use of plant hormones.

@Koods & LizardWizard
Thanks for the suggestions & advice
As sad as it was to do to something I’ve sprouted. I decided to just uproot the guy & throw him in the compost.
:feelsbadman:
While the cooler spring temperatures are still here I might as well try to germinate one of the 25 various named strain feminized seeds I got on holiday this year, that I have stored in the fridge. Because it will take me about 8 years to grow all of them
(I only grow 3 plants max a year)
and I suppose it’s better to start using them sooner than later.

Just an update, this gal is loving the sun;

Unfortunately I can't say the same for the two lately planted P.B seedlings.
One didn't make it over the heatwave we had a week or so ago & the other is showing very slow progress but is still standing. It seems to be stalling on its second set of leaves, But otherwise seems healthy.
I guess its tough being a seedling in the midst of summer

Hello again peeps.
I have a bit of a dilemma regarding my only successful outdoor plant of the year. She started budding a few weeks ago & there have been no issues besides the occasional spider.

Now although we've had a crazy fire season over here around December-January...
This February has been one of the rainiest we've had over the last decade.
Today I've checked up on her only to see that she had four very small spots of bud rot/mould. I've removed these buds.
But now I'm worried about the constant high humidity & rain we've been having recently along with fact that next week has been forecasted to again be heavy rain for the most part.

Moving the plant indoors isn't an option also I can't constantly check on it as I'm away from it from time to time. So I have two choices at the moment;
let the buds continue to plump up until the usual harvest time around mid April. Or to cut down & start the drying process to avoid losing any more buds and possibly the entire plant to mould.

At the moment I'd say around 80-90% of the pistils are still white & I estimate there's about 50g (dry) of young buds on the plant which could more than double or triple in weight if I'm able to wait another month and a half. But we've been having so much rain recently which doesn't seem to be letting up any time soon.

So my question is what should I do? What would you do? Am I overreacting or would it be wise to start drying asap?
Also here's some quick pics I took for a visual indication of what stage the plant is at;

Thanks for the quick reply.
Thought that was the case. First thing tomorrow I shall cut it down.

Have successfully germinated three different strains of feminized seeds and planted them all today after dipping the taproots in mycorrhizae powder. This will be my first time growing cannabis that isn't  just random bag seed.

The strains are;
-Purple bud
-White diesel
-Black domina

Hoping this season will be my most productive grow after last years flop.

22 days after planting and the seedlings are doing fine and dandy.

Just about due for re-potting.

50 days since planting. We've had some near freezing nights, scorching days and wild wind. Though all has been well up until today..

Purple buds (Indica);
Doing very well, the best so far I'd say.

Black Domina (Indica);
This one seems to be the runt of the lot. Its growing rate is fine, just smaller compared to the others. It did have a rough start though. It took almost a week to break through the soil after planting, while the other two were already established. It also had the seed casing stuck on its head for a few days after breaking through. Where I had to intervene after I could see the first true leaves becoming smothered in there. No issues otherwise.

White diesel (Hybrid);
This one I expected to outperform the others. Which it did for the most part. It was first to shoot through the soil and was already stretching for light before the others had a chance to break through. It always seemed to be ahead in terms of overall growth where the Purple buds is only starting to catch up. But today my expectation has shifted to hoping it survives another week...

You might be thinking "Whats the worry? That looks alright man."
wait till you see what was going on around one of the dying cotyledons. :sadyes:
*Spoiler below.

Some mold had taken ahold on one side of the stem just above the soil line. I dug a little underneath to see that it was only on that above ground section. The other side seems untouched as of yet. So I dipped a cotton swab in a 3 percent hydrogen peroxide solution and went over the effected area with it. The fizzing that occurred and the softness of the flesh on that side confirmed to me that I was dealing with some kind of mold/stem rot. the effected cotyledon sloughed off as I was doing this, which revealed a small black vertical hole in the stem which is where I believe the infection probably started. I removed the other one as well.
Some after cleaning photos;

My best guess is that a tear must of formed on a windy day we had about a week ago, that plant copped a lot harsh gusts at the time and a day after I noticed one of the cotyledons had moved to a weird position and seemed to be dying instead of shriveling. I thought nothing of it at the time. Four days later I notice this.
Either way I've already written it off in my mind. If it can't bounce back outside on its own, without me constantly intervening. It won't survive very long when I'll be leaving them intermittently. After I leave on Sunday I won't be back till Mid November. So when I check up on them next time the White diesel will either be thriving, dying or dead.

I concur it's probably due to wind damage letting get spores a hold of your plant's tissue. If that was my plant, I would have used 70% isopropyl on it. I'd have even injected the stem cause of the vertical hole you speak of. It's a harsh treatment but they perk right back up from it. Takes em 3 days to get that "growing" glow again but they don't even go droopy in the meantime.

Thanks for the tip.
I have 70% isopropyl wipes but not the bottled stuff. I might see how it fares over the weekend before I go and if there's no improvement or it gets worse. I'll go over it again with the isopropyl wipes. Would you say that it would be viable to inject a few drops of 3% hydrogen peroxide solution inside the tear instead of the isopropyl, or should I just leave it alone?

All the seeds were purchased from Sensi seeds. So I’m assuming the Purple bud I got was this strain: Leafly - Purple bud strain

Appreciate the advice.
The initial swab of peroxide seems to have done the trick. The infection appears to be on the mend. The flesh isn't as soft as it was yesterday and feels almost as solid as the rest of the stem. There's also a small callus forming on the inside of the hole. So I'm more hopeful its going to recover. But as a precaution I did wipe it down with one of the Isopropyl wipes and twisted the corner of another so that I was able to gently probe it inside the tear. Though it doesn't appear as deep now because of the callus that's formed.

Squeeze out a couple wipes n use that, or spend a couple bucks on a small bottle of rubbing alcohol

Squeeze wipes? I'm not that desperate for the stuff... :lol:
I've got a bottle at my other place. In case it ever happens again, I'll bring it over when I return. Hopefully once I'm back that spot will remain as nothing more but a hideous scar. If so, curious to see how the scar will effect the plant's growth in the long term.

66 days since planting..

Black domina Looking good;

Same goes for the Purple bud;

It had been cut last week by a curious drunk friend who didn't know what they were doing.
:notamused:

Although unintentional, I guess This'll be my first topped plant.

The White diesel wasn't in good shape but is still alive. I didn't take any before photos but basically it looks like the infection had run its course and the stem gave way. Not exactly snapping but was close to it. the plant was growing sideways off the edge of the pot. The leaves all looked healthy, maybe a little wilted.
I've buried the damaged part of the stem as it looked like it was preparing to push out new roots above the site of infection and tied it to a support as it can't seem to stand on its own.
It looks a little weird because it was growing sideways for a little while. Hopefully it recovers quickly and straightens out soon.

It definitely doesn't seem to want to give up. Like a soldier who had a leg blown off by a land mine and is still willing to fight on.

I wouldn’t have the time to care for the cuttings and summer is right around the corner.

Think I’ll just let it ride.

86 days from seed;

The Purple Bud is taking shape.

As is the Black Domina.

Though the White Diesel didn't make it. :sad:

The base of the stem had completely scarred over, so that the plant wasn't able to uptake enough water & nutrients from the root zone.

and yeah it has got some of the fattest fan leaves that I've ever seen on a cannabis plant.
