Hey y'all! Soo.. I had a random seed show up and gave it a chance. I don't have any kind of indoor setup so I'm trying outdoors. Crossing my fingers it's a girl. Was wondering what the thread experts think. ✌️

Edit: the Threxperts lol

Holy shit really?! Thanks for the response. Is there anything particular I should feed her now. This was literally on a whim so I have no clue. 🍀

Many thanks! I started it in a smaller pot in seed starting mix then moved to this 5 gallon. It's a mix of coir/perlite/black cow manure/blood meal/worm castings. No particular ratios it's just what I had around. I've been watering when things feel dry.

Edit: I haven't fertilized any at all

Pot picking preaching time lol. How are you checking the moisture level? Looks like you've done a good job so far, but things will be less forgiving in flower. AND here it comes! If you're not already start picking up the pot. Get used to how it feels dry.. at almost wilt but not quite and get used to the wet weight. Some use scales, but I like checking by hand.

Are you working on a tight budget? You're going to want a source of PK and here's a few different ways to go about it. Some Tria would be good too.. got any Alfalfa? There's more, but step by step is good. There's going to be a lot of good info from others coming your way too. This group is very diverse.
:awesomenod:

*just caught your edit. Still going to need some nitrogen at some point most likely. It's usually cut off by mid to late flower, but it's probably to need it.

Lmao, Oh yeah! I was hoping to get the rundown, thank you. I don't have those but I'm sure I can afford if it's within reason. I'm on a budget, but I'll get her what she needs. Like a child, lol. Ok Tria and alfalfa. Is that the sprouts? Cant help but to newb speak. 🌵

Hell yeah I got some grain soak water, lol. Should I just dilute some on next watering? I will pick up the tomato/veg fert Monday. About a week ago I took a few cuttings to propagate like I do pothos.
Did one in soil, the other two water. Wish I would have found this thread earlier. 😆

I have used root hormone powder to successfully clone before. Took a razor and cut diagonally a nice good growth, set it in container of water while opening hormone powder, stick end you just cut into powder, tap off excess powder, plant in your preferred media

Sweet, I'm ok then.

Cloning is very easy. Take this picture for example. I numbered the cuts to make in order.

First you choose where you want to separate the cutting from the plant. You want a cutting at least 3 inches long and you want at least one growth shoot left behind on the plant for it to regrow from. You don't want to remove more than 2/3 of the plant at any time to avoid stress, but that'd only be a concern if you're trying to clone a baby or taking a lot of clones from one plant.

Make your cuts at 45 degree angles with a sharp, clean knife. You can use scissors too but you cause less damage to the cambium the sharper the knife is. The sharpest knife you could use for this task is a grafting knife. Cleaner cuts lead to faster healing and cloning. 45 degrees helps the wounds heal faster and gives more surface area for the clone tip to root out of.

First cut separates the cutting, you cut the top portion of the plant off just above one of the growth shoots. Leave minimal stem material behind so there's less chance of rot. The plant will heal the wound and continue growing from the remaining shoots.

Second cut is to remove the excess stem from the bottom of the cutting. Any excess stem on the clone up to the lowest node will rot off, so minimize that by positioning the second cut right below a node on the cutting. Most new roots will grow out of the node.

Third cut is to remove the growth shoot and leaf that is currently occupying that node you want to grow roots from. Remove any foliage from the bottom couple inches of the cutting, for obvious reasons before you go to placing it in a cloner or dirt. You actually don't need a blade to cut the excess foliage off, just pinch or roll it clean off the stem. Immediately put the cutting in water to avoid air bubbles getting into the plant's vascular system.

Then it's up to you if you want to just stick it in a cup of water, dirt, or in something fancier with a bubbler or pump to aerate the water. The idea is to keep the cutting saturated with water and oxygen until it can regrow roots to sustain itself. The more dissolved oxygen the better. Water over 80 degreesF holds exponentially less oxygen in solution than cooler water. Less oxygen means slower rooting and higher rates of bacterial growth, putting the cutting in jeapordy. Try to clone between 60-70 F and with supplemental oxygen from a pump or air stone for best results.

You can also use cloning gels with hormones that stimulate rooting. Clonex gel is good. Then as soon as roots begin showing, small amounts of nutrients and myco innoculants really go a long way. Clonex also sells cloning nutrient solution and I've had great results from Great White mycorrhizae.

Thanks! Super very helpful!

I've got a steady forecast of rain the rest of the week. My girl is in a 5 gallon outside, very well draining. Should I try and move her back and forth? Or is it ok to leave her be? No crazy winds or anything. Thanks!

It's fine outside in the rain, but the main issues would arise from buds staying wet too long in a cloudy, humid environment, leading to botrytis ("bud rot"), or poor air flow from excessive foliage creating a moist microclimate inside of the plant leading to powdery mildew or other fungal issues.

Does your plant have adequate air flow from pruning/deleafing?

When you say "steady forecast of rain", do you mean that's a chance for at least a little rain for the next few days, or do you mean consistent rain for the next few days?

Some wind would be beneficial because it could help evaporation, but you could also just give your plant a shake in between the rains.

Thank you! I've had about 10 hours light rain today, just cloudy now. Forecast shows 90% next 4 days. I have an outdoor fan I can use if things are too wet. Just wasn't sure if it was ok for the soil to get that much water in a week. Will definitely shake when it needs if I'm home. This pic is from today.  I topped her a month ago when she was much smaller and I didn't know about pruning. Think I need to? Thanks again ✌️
