Sup folks. First time marijuana grow just began last week, germinated 4 seeds of Blue Cheese and tossed them into solo cups with some Fox Farm Ocean Forrest soil. I am a complete newb but have two long time growers in my ears helping me. Bought a 4x4x6 foot grow tent, Spider Farm SF4000 LED light, fox farm nutrients, 5 gallon fabric pots etc.
Will update as things get more interesting, 4 of 5 seeds I tried to germinate grew their root but 1 is lagging so maybe a dud or just slow
I am so excited because I spent the last 15 years only cultivating mushrooms, this is all brand new

Light showed up, tossed that in, there's a fan in there now too,you can't see it but it's blowing directly at the plants making them wiggle a bit.

Yeatster said: Looks real low. What's the light and distance it's at. It's better for the light to be too far away and adjust accordingly by observing them stretching for more light. I'd hate to see you cook them
It's 18 inches from the top of the largest plant
Light is Spoderfarmer sf4000, I have it set to dim at 50% like the manual says

OK I pulled the light up a bit and dropped the fan to low
I'm afraid to over water but definitely think tomorrow they need a good watering because the soil is dry to the touch, got a lot done today

You guys were talking about a fan, the cloudline 4"
When I looked for that, I found three models on Amazon, the s4 at $99, the a4 at $89, and t4 at $129
Which model do you guys have?

How does it do humidity control, there's a humidifier? Or it just tells you the RH?

If I want to do 5 plants in 5 gallon fabric pots, how many 38qt bags of soil do I need exactly, 3 right?
Was about to order timer off Amazon, it wouldn't arrive till the 18th, drove my ass to the store and bought one lol screw manually doing the lights for the next week

How big are you wanting your plants to get?
I bought an 80“ tall tent, I'm ready to use a lot of the space

With LED, and indoor in general, your canopy can only get so deep. After you max out the width the light will only penetrate 12-18 inches through the foliage. If you have a 5 foot tall plant, the bottom 3 feet will barely produce so you might as well prune anything lower than 18 inches or aim for short plants to save yourself time. The ideal method is called "scrog" where you weave the branches sideways through a net so you maintain that flat, shallow canopy later when they're flowering.
Five 5 gallons in a 4x4 sounds spot on tho. Honestly you could fill it easily with 4. Another thing to think about, if you have one LED centered in the tent, the center plant in the 5 plant scenario is going to get direct beams compared to the other 4. Which is fine if you want to favor one plant, but could have some consequences. The middle plant will drink more because it's getting more light and heat. Ideally you would water them all on the same day, but with the 5 plant setup the center plant might need water more often. If you water on the center plant's schedule you'll overwater the other 4. Having 4 evenly in each corner would keep the tent more in sync.
Damn, good to know, thank you for taking the time I appreciate it and will look into scrog. Kinda wondering if that's similar to "training" and just using a trellis?
Also, do I need a humidifier?

I seen hightimes post that 40% of black market Marijuana tested in New York contained E. Coli, lead, or other bullshit. One more reason to grow your own. If I'm gonna smoke E. Coli, I at least want it to be my own

Don't worry, the microplastics inside all of us will have the last laugh.
I gave the plants some water for the first time since I planted them, it was 4-5 days since being planted and I dug down 2 inches it was dry, that's what I should be doing right? Or am I supposed to let them go straight Sahara dessert so the roots search for water? My friend said he would've waited longer but I dunno, I was surprised how dry it really was and I'm clearly not over watering either one way to find out

Yes there are holes, drains fine, they're looking good now. I had to stop listening to my one buddy because I kept looking shit up and he was giving me a ton of bro science bs.
My next steps I need to start researching, they were planted on the 5th, now it's been 7 days I have no idea when to start feeding, transplant and all that, the 5 gallon ac infinity pots arrived, I still don't have the exhaust though

How are these looking? One in the back left has been really lagging and looked like it wasn't even cannabis until today, one in center was just put in 2 days ago so it's a bit behind, the other 3 I think look nice and strong they're at day 8 now, is this how it should look 8 days in?
