I personally remove all the leaves and trim on harvest day, but leave them on the stalks and stalks as big as possible (scrog setup prevents me from doing whole plants), then I hang em to dry in a dark room without fan, but it's a small room that gets fanned out with the door about 8-2 times a day, from beginning to end. Then I put em in glass jars, with glass tops if possible, and VERY IMPORTANT, BURP AT LEAST EVERY DAY!!!! If they feel too soft and moist after the first and second day I'll lay em out again, but the reason you absolutely need to BURP EVERY DAY, and preferably twice a day, is because all the life in the buds is using oxygen, and if that oxygen is all gone, you'll get ammonia production by anaerobic bacteria. And mold on top of that. I've been there and it absolutely sucks. I try to cure for at least a month, after the first 2-3 weeks everything has dried out enough and life has slowed down with it, so I burp only once per day when it's near perfection.

It's also a whole lot easier to cut early than it is to cut too late. It really takes quite some time. It can takes weeks from the first amber color beads to 80%, and if you go 2 weeks past that, you'll probably still be good. All the while, weight still adds up slowly, but indoor lights also continue to pull power from the socket. I personally will let them go for as long as I deem possible because I'm a kush lover and I will often get anxiety with too cerebral strains.

I had to turn my quantum board a bit lower for the last week cause I was getting a lot of lightburned white bud tips... Definitely have to throw em in bloom a lot sooner next time.

True dat.

I'm thinking of making a 90% iso or ethanol handrinsing station for during trimming. Getting the hash off is always a bitch and I hate spoiling all that gooey goodness...

Feminized seeds are made that way, they stack 100 seedstarted plants in a growhouse, and put a cutting of each in a bloom room, give all the cuttings hella light stress until they all herm out, look for the ones that don't, then the seedstarted plants those came from have no male chromosomes to form the hermaphrodite flowers with. Then they take another clone of those pure females, and those get sprayed either with gibberellic acid or colloïdal silver during flowering to chemically induce hermaphrodite formation, then they take pollen from  those, and polinate the original seedstarted plant with it's own pollen, or with pollen from it's sister (other seedstarted plant of same variety).

This is not an easy process, plants get killed by colloïdal silver and gibberellic acid, and there's not a lot of plants that can do it, so it takes high starting numbers for low numbers of success.

At least, that's how I understand it

Indeed males will too, but the thing is that males will never get enough female flowers to be useful for seed production, whereas females will have enough male flower production, because you don't need that much pollen in the first place.

YOU CAN'T DO THIS WITH ONLY A FEW PLANTS!

The reason for this is like I stated before that in, say, a 100 plants started from seed, with each their own genetics, will only have somewhere between 0-5 plants that are actually pure enough in their female genetics, to be used for production of female seed. With only 4 or 5 plants you end up making feminized seeds with plants that have male genetics in them, and that's how you create hermaphrodites. The reason that it happens is probably because  it is actually a mechanism of the plant for survival, and when they become hermaphrodite, they are actually quite strong in survival terms, because they can now pollinate themselves, so they're unlikely to lose that quality throughout the next generations. But we don't want that, so don't start spraying your 4 or 5 plants just yet.

What you COULD do, if your seeds are of a high enough quality, is take feminized seeds (don't use KillingFields by Sanniesshop, that's one that has a very very high rate of hermaphrodite plants), grow them out a bit, take clones from one of those, and then do the spraying on them. That way you can grow  out your own new feminized seed, but be aware that there is more to genetics than this, so it's hard to tell beforehand what those seeds will eventually yield. I don't have anywhere near enough experience with breeding to tell you about that.

You can always turn 1 plant into 10 if you don't mind the setback. Propagation can be a great tool

If hermaphrodite traits creep in good, there's not a lot of stress needed to switch them. The stress of not being pollinated during most of flowering is often already enough to induce the plant to go bananas.

indeed it is, it's for good reasons that breeding proper cannagenetics is considered an art form, one that differs from just growing in many ways!

Research is rarely thorough enough the first 10-20 years, and how could it be, when some health effects take decades to develop. Though in the meantime, things will or can become lauded for their perceived greatness, all because some poorly funded and highly publish-pressured scientist is making his or her way in the world of science.

I think you want an answer that is more informed or more positive than what's availableat the moment.

Secondly why not is because there are better ways that are known to be safe available, to reach the desired end goal.

And third if there ever was an independent study about it, chances are still high it is not as correct as one might think. Multiple leading science magazine editors have already expressed their concern about the veracity of scientific claims, stating that perhaps over half of published science is actually unsound.

For all those reasons, I'd rather be on the safe side. Nature does things best anyway.

He's asking why NOT as far as I can discern, without wanting an answer that's based in gut feeling, but instead wanting answers based in science, because he feels like science is a much more safe or logical system to adhere to when deciding what's a good idea.

You can grow a plant in an appartment without extra lighting and it will stink up the place for sure during the bloom period, if questions will be asked will depend on your neighbors, though if the answer is 1 small female plant, who the fuck is gonna care? That being said, 1 small plant in an appartment harvests barely anything usually and is not worth it in my book, but if you're just looking for a cool houseplant with a joint at it's end, go for it.
