Fridge is fine. Just keep it to the cold side. Desiccant pouches help but aren't completely needed. They should last 5 to 10 years this way easily. Try some without the soak. Keep the paper towel just barely moist. No standing water. At that failure rate my guess is drowning.

I'll try. Though I've done the same thing with a new pack and stored pack both germed side by side and the fresh seeds were significantly more successful. My methods may not be perfect but made me think it was a storage issue.
I was just questioning a zip lock lol. Try a better bag. Even a bag in a bag.. that's where I use the dpaks. Between the bags. Then put those in a well sealed plastic container. A few more dpaks in the container won't hurt either.

Damn. They should stay good in the capsule alone. The foil bags aren't bad either. Yeah maybe not cold enough. Try some in the freezer. Try putting all that in a plastic container. Something that the lid screws down tight.

I do pretty well with any method.. PT, straight to dirt, coir etc. Pre soak only works consistently for me when they split in the water. Not really fond of that method though it works.
Back to Icon's problem.. eating at me all morning lol. I hate to say it, but what seed supplier? Same breeder? Or all do the same? It's just baffling to me because I can leave seeds in the cupboard for 2-3 years and have absolutely no problems. The majority is seeds I breed myself, but I have a huge addiction and a collection to go with it lol. Last count I was pushing over 150 strains. I've seen a few batches have trouble, but it's really rare.

I just gently knock the shit out of a pollen donor bud on some paper and funnel it down into the sample cup. It can stay viable for a few years if kept dry. That's the key. Same with seeds. Keeping everything dry until use is critical.
Haha! Thanks QM33. That pic always reminds me of a cracked out Uncle Rico

A.k.a said: Those colors are amazing. I love the red/orange strains a couple people have put up recently.
With the germination thing I should add that the two that didn’t work were from a big bag with a bunch of smaller/underdeveloped ones mixed in. With nice fat seeds they’ve all popped. Not that 15 is really enough to evaluate anything
Do you guys harvest the seeds from the bud fresh or dry?
Dry is a lot easier. Wet is ok, just messy. Strips the skins off more often when wet too.
That was one of the reasons I was wondering about Icon's breeder. The seeds might be old before they even ship. And a lot of breeders send a few junky seeds intentionally.. or just didn't look at each one close enough. Tedious work I know, but ya gotta do it for quality's sake. Lots of breeders harvest seeds prematurely to IMHO. A good rule of thumb is two weeks from when you think they are done.

Don’t need to air dry for a period of time? Fresh pollen stored at RT, fridge or freezer with desiccant?
Yes. Sorry, forgot lol. Dry the buds normally then beat them.
Seems to store the same for me. Fridge, freezer and even room temps.. though not quite as long that way.

A.k.a said: Oh I didn’t even think about how many must pop out as the bud dries and shrinks up.
When I bought my cbd cheese seeds they did throw in a couple extra and I thought I got hooked up until I noticed they were tiny nitwit seeds.
I guess it’s kind of like sending scratcher tickets with the pack, probably won’t get anything but you never know.
True.
When I send seeds you'll never get a nitwit (love that term btw). When I send extras, I mean extras lol. 10 packs are minimum 14 count. 6 packs are 8-9 count. All dark. I pinch test anything questionable bacause it is like a scratch ticket. But I won't send anyone nitwits.
The ones that pop out when drying are the best. I also like the ones that come from the large flowers near the stem.

Yep. There it is (looking good Mr Magoo) and this is why. Smoking faster than schucking

I'm pulling about 9 seeds per gram. A little higher than targeted. Was hoping for half that but the buds still smoke really well after schucking. Which is one of the goals for this project.

How many consecutive buds shots is that without the customary animal or human hair? This might be a new record.

LizardWizard said: First time trying to turn females into pollen donors here, so I got a question for anyone who has a good deal of experience with making fem seeds, preferably also through the use of ionized silver solutions.
What's happening is I'm almost 2 weeks into spraying, and most are flowering by now, some only have a couple preflowers, but all of them are still completely female flowered...
Is it supposed to happen this way? Will only a few male flowers appear between predominantly female flowers?
Has something gone wrong? Can I forget about harvesting pollen after flowering has begun with female flowers?
Might try STS next time if this don't work.
edit: building a hash tumbler
You came to the right place. Just happens to be my specialty. I typically charge farms for this service so you’re lucky I like you people.
A couple things we'll need to know. PPM of your solution. Pre and post flip treatment schedule. Indica, sativa or hybrid. How much of the plant are you treating?
Are you making your own colloidal? All forms will work but I can save you some headaches by highly recommending STS.
This is what a perfectly reversed bud should look like at weeks 4-5..
Some freak out when they see this but it's porn to me. I can also save some old schoolers some arguing time by telling you straight up.. WE ARE NOT BREEDING HERMAPHRODITES!!! We are taking advantage of a perfectly normal plant function. It's not genetic alteration. There. Whew. Got that out. Sorry. That argument grinds at me.
