Im a very experienced outdoor grower, over the last 6 or so years there has been maybe a few months total where I havent had any growing.
At the moment I have 4 sativas which are o ly a couple of weeks away from harvest

Id love to be involved in a thread where I can share experience, techniques and ideas with others. I am also on growery.org however it is  a rather small community compared to here.

The reason I saw this thread is because I was just about to make one in regards to my first indoor indica grow.

OM - in regards to germinating seeds, I have found the most effective method to be placing them in a glass of warm water for 24 hours. After that time, if any are still floating chances are they will not sprout. As for the ones that sink to the bottom, plant them directly into soil (pots, ground etc.) and you should see them sprout within a day or two.

Thanks for the heads up about germinating. That's more or less how I was planning on going about it. I think I'm going to start the seeds in small pots, like 1 gallon, then transplant them into 30 gallon fabric pots once they've developed a bit.

I think I'm going to start the seeds outdoors right from the beginning instead of starting them under lights indoors...It's already getting into the season, we're already at 13+ hours of daylight in my area and it won't be another 2 weeks or so until I get around to it.

The seeds I plan on planting are all from "bag seed"...but they came out of some high quality buds and they are all from legit/known west coast strains...I'm just not sure if the seeds were developed from the plant turning hermy and pollinating itself, or from pollen drifting from some other nearby hermy plant  .

The seeds I plan on germinating are bag-seed from....

Raspberry Kush

Cherry Kush

Blue cookies

Khalifa Kush

Captain America OG

I'll probably get a clone or two from someone local as well. I'd love to grow some Gorilla Glue and a high CBD strain.

-OM

.

It could have been, my last plants were in a greenhouse and although they were massive they sadly got infested with scale insects that sucked the life out of them :frown:

One thing I would suggest is if you have the option, transplant them into the ground instead of bigger pots. Pots seem to restrict the size of the plant and when grown in the ground they require little to no maintenance.

I plant my seeds in small pots after soaking in warm water, wet the soil then cover the pot with clear cling wrap and place it somewhere sunny. The cling wrap traps in warmth and humidity creating like a mini greenhouse. Doing it this way ive never had a seed take any more than 2 maybe 3 days to sprout.

Then once they get a bit bigger I dig a hole in the ground much bigger than I need and partially fill it with good soil/potting mix and add some compost/vegetable scraps, wet it all and fill with a final layer of good soil which I plant the sprouts into.

Heres one of my current sativas that I water maybe once a week.

Now and then when I do some weeding around the area ill rip the roots off the weeds and pile them up around the base of my plants which acts like a mulch to stop weeds growing and decomposes into food for the plant

The climate where I am (Queensland, Australia) is perfect for growing these beautiful plants. The humidity during summer boosts their growth dramatically.

It's mid Autumn here now and as you can see they have started flowering. Not much longer now and it will be harvest time!!

Can anyone tell me why my plants appear to be flowering early!? Summers not even over yet :/ (Australia)

The seeds were purchased from DNM listed as "CBD therapy" strain. They were sprouted under a light mid December then moved outside into a greenhouse.

January 6th (the day they were moved outside)

January 18th

February 9th

February 14th

February 21st (today)

They're definitely not autoflower, I gave a few to a mate who sprouted his around the same time, completely outdoors, and his are still clearly in veg.

I'm thinking it's because they were under a light for 14 hrs a day then got moved outside into ~11-12 hrs of light a day... Don't get me wrong I'm not complaining haha, it's just a shame they weren't a little bigger before flowering.

Like my last sativa I had in the same greenhouse hehe

The tips of some plants have been getting this.

The soil ph is neutral an the water is a 7.

What's your watering schedule like? Try letting them dry out a bit and see if that changes anything.

This might help, plenty of pictures to look at and compare Pictures of marijuana symptoms caused by over-watering, too much heat, and small containers

Some weeks ago I was given just over 1000 seeds (rough estimate going off weight) and for the hell of it I threw a handfull into one of my garden beds, not really thinking anything of it. A week or two went by and I decided to check if maybe one or two had popped up. To my utmost suprise, it looked like every God damn one had sprouted!

I have continued this now 'project' to see how far they will go with absolutely no maintenance, I haven't even watered them once. I have been keeping an eye out for any males but it's now at the point I'm fairly certain every single one is female.

Those photos are old. I'll get some up to date in a minute. I'm 99% sure I can tell they are all female but I'm happy to be proven wrong

A little experiment I've been toying with, small indoor 'tie down' single plant grow (lil bonsaii plant hehe) using a spare CFL bulb I had and a computer fan (later adding a couple of red and blue led's). I didn't expect much to come of it but I have hundreds of sativa dominate seeds at my disposal so I figured why not. So far it has been going rather well.

The light is on a timer which I've had on for 22 hrs a day since day 1 (Feb 1st). I'm thinking of starting to reduce the light now to initiate the flowering stage. I know I will only end up with a small yield, but will putting it into flower now do any harm? Currently about 7 weeks old.

Just started some bagseed to test out my spacebucket, it's looking a bit yellow on the tips, I'm not sure if it's because I left it in the paper waaaay too long and it developed a giant root as a seedling because I left town for a few days, or if it's a deficiency of some sort

To be honest I'll be happy if the damned thing survives, but I'm happy with how it's going:

Tip it, now =D

So I reduced the lighting to 12/12 a few weeks ago but it doesn't look like it's had any effect in regards to making it flower. Any suggestions?

I was thinking that. What would be the minimum light hours without harming the plant?

11 hrs should def do it AFAIK.

Quick troubleshoot question: are they receiving complete and utter darkness during their dark hours, or are there light leaks or ambient light?

When the lights are off they are in complete darkness, the box is completely sealed from outside light.
