Bulk steam pasterization
    #25127163 - 04/09/18 10:18 PM (6 years, 9 months ago)

Now I am trying to go low key here but in large bulk pasteurization has anyone used their pressure cookers steam outlet to direct the steam into a large steam barrel. I attach 3/8 tubing to the exit steam valve of my pressure cooker and direct it to my steam box to bend wood, I just thought to myself why dont I do this for bulk substrate. Has anyone done this??? It holds way more water than conventional steamers. I guess I will just have to try and find out.

ive seen some peepz do it like that here... it should work

I mostly do oven pasteurization, no preheating, putting out the oven flame @120, starting the countdown @140, and I still end up @ around 160F after 90mins...

I love coir for this aspect especially.

Haha I just hydrated a sub with room temp tap water and it performed just as well as pasteurized coir:lol:

I've heard that too, but they usually put it in the labeling when they do that, as it actually adds value for plant growers.

I've used 3 or 4 types and haven't had any issues.  RN I'm using a 5 KG brick from Amazon for 20 bucks.  Its tested for salt content and had a neutral PH.

No, horse manure and straw. I use coir sometimes but for that I just use the bucket tek. I dont know if coir is as good as manure. If somebody convinced me it was I'd switch to that. That would be a lot easier. I'm trying to do a 4 by 8 grow so not sure what's the best method. Any suggestions would be great

I use an old pressure cooker as a steam generator for pasteurizing. I had a welder tig weld on a aluminum 3/4" pipe fitting to the lid for exhaust and a 1" pipe fitting to the pot of the cooker for an element to make a neat electric powered steam generator, it works great. I use it to steam a large ice cooler via a PID temp controller.
