Martha question
    #25124057 - 04/08/18 06:24 PM (5 years, 11 months ago)

Hi,

I've set up a Martha and have a few mini mono tubs/trays in fruiting. I have my RH controller set to maintain above 99% (humidifier turns on when humidity drops below 98%).

I have a fan that runs for 60 seconds every 6 hours. However, I've also been manually fanning 3-4 times a day.

I haven't been misting. You can see from the image below that surface substrate moisture is pretty high. These beads form from the humidifier mist.

I'm mostly disappointed with the fruits so far. It has been in fruiting for about 2 weeks and I've harvested about 1.5g dried.

I'm open to suggestions. I'm wondering if my set up doesn't create enough evaporation off the substrate to stimulate growth. Should I set up more frequent fanning, and maybe point it more directly on the substrate?

Well, wait for others to chime in but i will tell you what i would do. You definitely have to let some evaporation take place. Your visiting them 3-4 times a day anyways so shoot for a RH in the 80s and mist when it needs (witch wont be often) and then up it a little until its perfect. The liners are good for side pins but when i first had the GH up i had side pins like crazy with no liner. I just fruited them on the lids the trays came with. Like a big cake. When i decided to transfer to the lids i lowered fae and upped RH and the yield was very solid. It seems you have the opposite problem.

I've read that RH as close to 100% the better. But that does contradict the fact that you need evaporation, which can't happen at 100% humidity.

I'll try lowering the humidity setting and see how it goes.

Thanks!

I am curious to see what happens, as I am about to start my own Martha.

I've just been skeptical of having a fan inside of a tent with so much moisture.

Anyway, I hope you get this figured out!

I'll update the status.

I've now set the humidity between 80% to 95%. So the humidifier turns on when it drops below 80% and turns off once it gets above 95%.

I'm also running on a 12:12 light schedule with the 1 min automatic fanning (not directly on the substrate) every 6hrs.
