SWIM's neighbor's cat found a 10 year old spore print that his friend the dog made after a p.menace grow. He is curious as to the status of this "strain" now, and asked me to find out.

Well the cat showed me some, and they definitely, repeatedly, had traits that were not typical. Sure they're cubes, but inherited genetic lines can change traits of anything.

They're still around.Got a syringe as a freebee awhile back, been deciding when to start them. From what I see they have a distinct cap shape, but I get wild cap shapes from any variety of cubensis.I'm sure it has alot to do with conditions and genetics.

As far as your print,if you decide to grow it out,be sure to clean it up on agar.Cat's can be dirty.

My cats girlfriends cooter says your 10 year old spores are probably dead.
Only way to find out is to swipe them to agar or try to hydrate them.
Not worth the effort.

Same story here. (This account is new while Ythan helps me get into my old account). I have a grip of really old prints that are great genetics. I have a "Wild Texas Isolate" print that I got directly from P. Menace ages ago. I made an MS tonight, am rehydrating, then we'll give her a whirl within the next day or two. Excited to see if this can be resurrected.

Ditto. I have some dishes, maybe I should drip a drop of MS solution or do a direct spore inoculation. That plate could save me so much time. Lol

I grew these MS "Menace" from a freebee syringe earlier this summer. They were quick to pin as soon as the myc broke through the top layer.
Had to harvest this one early.
Pretty fun and fast growing.(usually pinned about 12-14 days from spawn. There were alot of nice clusters with these.Potency was average for cubes.

Very nice looking flushes! A friend is having issues with Menace right now because it forms thousands of pins that are all malformed, open caps, teeny-tiny. And it's flush 2. They got 3/8oz. dry from flush 1 that were all small...and there's no break between flushes. So what can be done to either increase the size of the small fruits or decrease their numbers with hopes of getting larger fruits? The biggest one they had was 3 inches tall and 8g wet.
Thank you very much!!!!
