I propped mine up to give all of'em more space when this happened. Casing layer was too thick and wet. All side pins

Thanks Bod and everyone for your replies, I guess I'm going to see if trying to give it more FAE helps, won't hurt. Also what do you guys think of closing the entire top when it's on the ''dark stage'' of the 12/12 light cycle? Should I leave it lid flipped 90 degrees at all times?
Also, I think once I harvest the all the sides etc, What do you guys think about just flipping the fat o'le sub over.. because a lot of growth is on the bottom as well, its just this darn top sub doesn't want to pin or flourish at all :/
The only good thing is this was an attempt at a semi ''bulk'' grown so the side and bottom is going to have a lot, I mean it's a 72 qt tub mixed with 6 lbs of spawn into 10lbs of substrate.

Theres the top view of my sub plus more pin porn... really just giving up on my top sub.. really tempted to try slicing a portion of it out, less then half way and placing it in mutiple smaller tubs where it can replicate the same surface conditions as the side pin areas. this 72qt idk man just not good if your not doing the polyfil hole tek thing..

I think too much fresh air exchange with too dry of air has happened and dried out the surface too much. It is fruiting in the valleys of the sides because there is less airflow and more humidity right there so it hasn't dried out in those specific areas. A casing would probably be helpful.

Reminds me of my shoeboxes that are side heavy. I'm guessing its the over misting issue, but I too am interested in the experts to weigh in.

I wouldn't blame the tub that surface does look all dicked up, you can do that to any substrate in any kind of tub.

That surface is totally matted down and fucked beyond redemption a.k.a pinning platform non-existent, so that's why they'll pin everywhere but on top. Keeping the surface moist at this point is pretty useless, the water from misting will pool at first and then get absorbed very quickly, leaving the surface looking dry again and even compounding the problem making it look even more matted.
It looks like you treated the tub as if it was a cake, misting when you felt like it and not when it's really needed so myc got pissed off and decided to mat down, it's the way it has to protect itself.
Edit: I'd harvest those side-pins now and apply a layer of bucket-tecked coir on top, close the lid without dicking with too much FAE, quit misting (only mist when the pinset has formed and only if needed) and quit the wax paper, lose the light and wait. When you see pins, flip the lid and leave it be, they'll know what to do without your help trust me.

It's probably the only thing to bring that matted surface back to fruiting condition. It's not like the surface is going to randomly start fruiting if he does nothing anyway, so why not. Won't hurt anything, it's basically operating on a cadaver at this point.

My guess being overmisting would mean the bottom is fine, which is why the sides/bottom is pinning. To flip the sub he should do it the same as when baking a cake. Float it to the top for harvesting,slide a tray underneath, plance a teay atop, flip, and the layback atop the water and drain.

Flipping the sub is not a bad idea imo, problem is that it's going to happen the same again all over if he keeps doing what he did to get the surface that way in the first place. He obviously knows his shit so he won't change what he did one bit, that's why I think it'd be better if he applied a thin layer of coir on top instead of flipping the sub.

You know whats the funny thing? I was thinking that idea, just flipping it over after first flush...but me like an idiot I...
Took a dumbass choice, at this point I said fuck my life, and put the gun to my head.
I scraped the fuck out of the top sub surface, most likely scrapped it way too much.... oh god I don't even want to post a picture lol. Welp, rip. At this point I'm just looking forward to harvesting the sidepins/bottoms once they mature and thats about it for my first grow...unless of course the sub actually starts pinning over scraping.  Scraped that shit like larry the cable man i'd say... *sigh*... this has been a big learning experience.

Never did I say I'm not willing to change what I did... Its just this studio I'm in has no central or wall ac, the ac is basically a cieling fan, and a electric fan connected to the wall, so FAE is very difficult for me, I'm trying though.
Edit: Anyone wondering, I put the scrapings in an empty bagel bag, wondering if it would all colonize  , at this point it's just a botched science project... with the kinda satisfaction that I'ma get atleast some nice side /bottoms fruits.

Where I live its very far from any vermicule avaliable but I will try my best to get this done, I just pour enough to cover the scraped area with vermiculite?

You can case with coir if you have that. Or jiffy mix or a number of things. Just enough to cover it, 1/4" deep or so. Sterilize or pasteurize it first, unless its coir you could just hydrate with boiling water.
