You can see the myc in the jars going rizomorphic across the otherwise tomentose looking mold or myc. The myc can go rizo to jump over obstacles

or to simply avoid trouble or attackers. It´s not a good sign to see aggressive rizo growth on top of regular growth inside jars, this indicates some sort of stress and thus means the culture is affected by something.

Ok, that i didnt know, i thought it was a good sign with the rizo looking myc. Last time i did a grow (on popcorn) i only had the white fluffy myc in the jars. Tomentose right?
That grow went really well although it was extremly slow in colonizing the spawn substrate coir/verm/gypsum. I hade 3 big flushes with huge mushrooms.

I thought these jars looked good with the rizo myc, it colonized real fast in compare with the popcorn jars ..
So the conclusion is that you would prefer only one of type of myc in the jar?

Of course the myc will for example often jump off the agar onto the grain in a rizo looking form, that´s cause it´s leaping off, the rizo form obviously needs to be utilized
because there is some sort of hindrance on the way, like a gap between the agar wedge and the grain. But once on grain it starts colonizing the outside

and the inside of the grains and when it has a firm grip on the grains it doesn´t need to stress or hurry or leap off from something to something.

So when rizo growth suddenly appears on top of tomentose myc that means that the myc is not so happy in that spot and you will often see thick aggressive strands.

So what causes the myc to become that aggressive all of a sudden? The theory behind it is that it´s some form of stress, the colony is either sick or weakened by some disease

or it has competition in form of bacteria or molds. I have seen this in my own jars as well, they looked good, smelled good and even produced decent flushes, but it was obvious

from the appearance of the fruits that it was bacterial.

this jar was all shaken a couple days ago. it seems to recover well. I Will probably try a g2g transfer with at least this jar. I need at least 3 more jars for my monotub.

That myc looks awfully greyish with a slight green tinge to me. I know Elastical mentioned that before you shook the jars but I couldn't really see it then. It looks like it now that you've shaken it. I'd be careful with those.

I had 4 jars with oats from the start. 1 was clearly bad, with green mold. Left was the 3 as shown in the pictures. 1 of them i Still not 100 % colonized and have struggle with a specific spot in the jar. So i think im gonna toss that one. That leaves me with two jars.

These two are hopefullly ok. They smelled fresch when I spawned them into a monotub with coir/verm/gypsum. They have been colonizing since sunday. I took a quick peek today and seems to going well. I will take pictures when its time to fruit.

During the recent weeks i have made honey LC for the first time. And inoculated more jars with LC this time, still using oats. Also made a couple of PF -jars ..

All jars seems ok for now, some of them is soon 100 % colonized. Will take some photos later..
