Need Opinions on grow chamber( PF TEK BRF CAKES)
    #25109294 - 04/02/18 08:43 PM (3 years, 1 month ago)

Hi everyone. So I know these things take time and patience, I just want some opinions from those more experienced than I. Here is the situation, these cakes were birthed 6 days ago after they were dunked for 24 hours and then rolled in fresh verm. Since then I have been misting them 3 times a day and fanning them for about 2 mintues after misting. As you can see a new layer of myc has begun to develop over the fresh verm layer. Before birthing they were allowed to sit in the jars for about 4-5 days after full colonization. I dont see any signs of bacterial growth or infection. Am I spraying to heavily? What kind of spraying technique is best. I have set my spray bottle to mist and i have been letting the mist gently fall down onto the cakes. Do they need to be fanned longer/ more often? They are not getting any sunlight. About 8 hours of light from a lamp. Any help is appreciated thanks so much.

Trim the foil to the size of your lids and remove the lids with the verm. Use the foil. The increased airflow to the sides of your cakes should help with evaporation and help initiate pinning. If your SGFC is built to specifications then fanning is not necessary. Just mist when needed to keep your cakes glistening with moisture.

Other that that they look healthy and are probably just looking for more FAE to help with evaporation.
:goodluck:

In a SGFC you don’t have to fan.

Mist the cakes directly when they get dry.

What kind of light are you using? Shrooms grow best in 5000k to 6500k lighting. 12 hour cycles is best.

What is the room temp?

Awesome, removed the bottom layer and trimmed the foil. Will stop fanning, which is a huge relief. Room temp is at 72 degrees. When i picked up the cakes i could tell they were overly moist, so I guess i'll stop misting for a day or two. Also please explain FAE

FAE = fresh air exchange...you want your SGFC to be able to cycle the air inside with fresh air on the outside. Stagnant, humid air is not good for mushies. Fanning just makes your arms tired

K = Kelvin...Kelvin measures the temperature spectrum of the light...the high numbers (5000k to 6500k) are cooler more natural lights which is what you want...standard warm lights are no good
