Can anyone help explain why we went from everything looks good to toss em so quick? Or is contamination just something that happens like that with no real explanation. Also I circled the spots I seen the first time I seen them wich was the first day they where there and they haven’t grown at all they honestly kinda look like the blackish part of a corn curmal busted open and covered in mycelium. All things aside. Why would I toss the other 2 jars? Let me know your honest opinion on all the jars everything looks fully colonized and I’m defiantly seeing small amounts of moisture in all the jars. The small jar looks the most fuzzy to me the uncontaminated big jar looks dryer. I see absolutely no weird spots in the 2 jars. I can post more and better pics if needed. Thanks guys. I got my vermiculite and coir yesterday planning to make substrate today just seeking good advice on what to do with these jars.

Did you store the jars at room temp (68-72F)? Cannabis grow rooms typically are a bit warmer...usually 75F and higher

I’m in Alaska and it’s still real cold out. The house is normally pretty chilly and the grow room is real small with only one light not putting off much heat. If I was to guess maybe 75. The jars have been at room temp the last few days. I’ll put a thermometer in the grow room and see what it runs. You think heat is what caused this? Maybe being inside the plastic bucket it got warmer? What’s your opinion on my other 2 jars?

It’s possible...grain jars colonizing in the mid to upper 70s can turn bad pretty quick. Not sure how well your sterile technique was, but if it wasn’t the room temp then I’d say sterile tek....

It would have to be a combo of both, damn man that sucks bacteria reared its ugly head.
Only thing to do is restart with agar to get rid of the cootie that caused it.

I’m still not getting it. What is the contamination? Where do you see contamination in my pictures? After doing reasearch I believe anything with a slight blue hue I might have is more than likely bruising caused by the shaking I did the day before. Everything seems moist but not slimy or gooey at all. Thank you guys for giving me a heads up but can someone please explain why they say I need to toss these

If they smell good use them.
Some of those look like they may just be too wet.
They just don't look great.
You just get a sense of when spawn looks good or bad once you done it enough.
That creamy growth is usually bacteria. And you have uncolonized portions in your grain.
PC for 2 hours at 15psi and Make sure your inoculant is clean.

I have yet to open them. What should they smell like? If I spawn them into coir vermiculite do you think I have a chance? I’ll keep each jars contents in separate containers.

They should smell like mushrooms. Nice and earthy. And nothing else.
I think you'll have a good chance, just make sure you prep your coir verm on the drier side. The bucket tek is fine. Some people just hydrate with tap water and call it good.(only with pure coir)
You could even top them off with some coir and fruit them, in the jars, in an empty monotub or sgfc.

Will shaking them to mix them into coir/Verm be counterproductive for me? My jars aren’t wide mouth and don’t have much room in them for a casing layer. I have small rectangle salad containers cleaned and sanitized ready to spawn like normal. But I’m better of listening to anyone else as this is my first grown and I’d love to at least be semi successful

It could be. Your chance of getting fruits is better with top fruiting.
But if you spawn to bulk and it works you'll get more.
If you do go the bulk route use a bulk sub with just coir verm and gypsum if you have it. Hydrate to a little under field capacity. The bucket tek is fine for coir based subs. Stay away from coffee grinds in bulk.

Sweet thank you impatientguy. So the setup I will have is pretty much a shoebox set up. I got 3 small containers I’ll put each jar in a separate container. I have a coir vermiculite mixed and heated for plenty long enough. I’ll get it all mixed a little dry for field capacity mix in my colonized jar then cap 1/2” of coir verm so no popcorn in showing. Then do I put the lid on the box and keep them sealed? Or do I need GE or FAE? Keep them in the dark check them out in 7-10 days? If fully colonized then I start misting and FAE as well as light and look for pinning?

Don't keep them in the dark.
Keep the lid snapped on for colonizing.
I drill 1.25 inch holes in my mini monotubs. Just look into how to build a monotub

So im still topfruiting one jar with ziplock. But today i checked on my containers of coir verm and see these white pokeys, is it pinning? Should i put a casing layer over these containers they are not fully collonized.

No difference essentially. And coir is foolproof.
Just wondering why coir is so foolproof, I have never tried it. Always had great time with pasteurized horse poo. I think the best thing that ever made the difference was using the still air box to make the syringes. Also an air cleaner in the area of injection.
Any advantage to this stuff? It seems like way more work, and I get some large flushes...
More flushes?
Hope to hear from you, Cheesekiller
