Fearless from meddle.  I've also always thought childhoods end was a excellent song most people haven't heard.

That whole album is severely underrated :awesomenod: Especially considering it was recorded in like 2 weeks for a movie

I pretty much love all Floyd, The Amazing Pudding is one of my alltime favorites though for being so strange and unique:

Pink Floyd - The Amazing Pudding music video

There's a trippy video I made for one of the better live versions I have found.

If you don't know, The Amazing Pudding is what Atom Heart Mother was called before the album was finished. It's the original version without the choir or orchestra.

I also really like classical takes on their tunes.  Here's what appears to be a high school or college band playing Comfortably Numb using classical instruments.  There's also a great album online done by the London Orchestra

The live versions with saxophone are amazing as well.

Also if you haven't heard The Return of the Son of Nothing was the original version of Echoes, it was about space but Waters didn't like that floyd was being called a "space rock" band so they changed some of the lyrics to be more down to earth. You can find bootleg live versions of the original live.

Quote:

Planets meeting face to face
One to the other cried, how sweet!
If endlessly we might embrace
The perfect union deep in space

Heaven might this once relent
And give us leave to shine as one
Our two lights here forever, one light blended

And in that longing to be one
The parting summons' sound is drawn
I see you've got to travel on
And on and on, around the sun

Strangers passing in the street
By chance two separate glances meet
And I am you and what I see is me

And do I take you by the hand
And lead you through the land
And help me understand the best I can

And no one calls us to move on
And no one forces down our eyes
And no one speaks and no one tries
No one flies around the sun

Cloudless everyday you fall
Upon my waking eyes
Inviting and inciting me to rise

And through the window in the wall
Come streaming in on sunlight wings
A million bright ambassadors of morning

And no one sings me lullabies
And no one makes me close my eyes
So I throw the windows wide
And call to you, across the sky

--------------------
Don't worry about me, I've got all that I need. And I'm singing my song to the sky

You know how it feels, With the breeze of the sun in your eyes. Not minding that time's passing by

I've got all and more, My smile, just as before. Is all that I carry with me

Ya man, glad you mentioned it!  I was heavy into Floyd for a long, gathering up bootlegs and live versions of recordings without knowing when or where they were from. CD's burned from CD's burned from CD's, etc, etc... LOL

It was only in the last few years that I'd heard the story about Waters' opinion of the "space rock" label and the changing of the lyrics and title to "Echoes".

Waters was a fickle guy, I kind of wish he accepted their "psychedelic space/prog rock" label. They were always a whole lot more but that's an easy way to sum up their kind of music.

But yeah, there's some really interesting bootlegs. The 1969 amsterdam show is one of the most unique, though that may be an official recording actually.

I like Meddle. Cause it reminds me of Shpongle's "And Day Turns to Night...."

And "Money" is awesome, super catchy.

I like older Pink Floyd too, but I’ll be unoriginal and say... DSOTM is the best album, and “Time” is still my favorite track on there so.

I'll be even more unoriginal and agree with you on both counts. I'm very sentimental about Dark Side. It was the first Floyd album I listened to when I got a Walkman and dug into my dads cassettes.

It actually changed my outlook on life and death. I was 12 years old and when I heard this Irish brogue state,"I'm not frightened of dying. Any time will do. We've all got to go sometime", it blew my mind. I'd been raised Catholic. Went to Catholic school and the idea that a person could not fear death had never occurred to me before. Once I heard that idea, it instantly appealed to me, and I've thought more or less that way ever since.

Why worry about the inevitable?

As for Time, every time I hear it, I remember being a kid and playing guitar on a broom. That was my favorite air guitar broom guitar song for years. I still think the guitar sound on the leads is absolutely perfect.

Cool tune though. One of the illest guitar solos, Gilmour is that guy!

I like how the ending is a brief reprise of Breathe. Like you've just been on a journey, and come back to the beginning. (Home again)
