Didn't say it would not work. If you read his grow small bag 4 cups pellets 1 pound spawn no supplements. Other bag was larger. Still It took 14 days to colonize. Read thread :contam on bulk sawdust lions mane.

Bump
I'm new to Lisa's tek here but I have done a similar lower tek procedure and thought I would share. My procedure was built off of an "8 minute spawn" tek that uses ziplock bags instead of filter patch bags. Basically place all of your dry ingredients into each ziplock, then add water and zip closed w most of the air removed (leaving some air still inside the bag). After the pellets are fully hydrated and turned to dust float these bags on top of rapidly boiling water for the desired time (I adjust up to 10 minutes because I'm not using H2O2). Turn the burner off and inoculate in a SAB once cooled. Apairently the ziplock bag is thin enough to allow enough GE without a filter patch. I wipe my bags down w alcohol just before inoculation.

Huh, that's an interesting approach.
How full do you fill each bag?
Also, are you using supplemented or plain sawdust?

Nos-hroom said: So, to clarify, it's absolutely okay to sterilize fuel pellets after hydration, yes? This thread doesn't exactly imply that it is unnecessary, but I wanted to be sure that PC sterilization is not necessarily a no-no for the substrate in question.
I don't do fuel pellets over a coarser substrate, but this actually sounds very economical, and I like it.
? I mean I dont sterilize coir. Is pasturization effective enough on wood pellets for sterilization to not be worth the time?

The process of making the wood pellets basically sterilizes them that's why this Tek works with a simple pasteurization.

I recently bought 100 off of ebay for around $30 and free shipping. That is the best price I have found yet. If you search 'mushroom grow bag' it should be one of the first results, plus ebay has been throwing coupons at me lately so you may be able to get a couple bucks off.
