Interesting. I see so many people use parafilm on seedling to Pereskiopsis grafts. I have never used parafilm. Just slice and lightly press together and place inside a humidity chamber for 1-2 weeks. Success is about 95% with healthy seedlings i.e. Non variegated non mutated seedlings. I will use parafilm on larger non seedlings to help hold them together. Have you tried without parafilm?

the only ways so far are humidity domes, plastic wrap/parafilm and vaseline, i managed to have scions to take on opuntia ficus indica back in the days when i did not have any rootstocks, i managed some to take but they did not grow (most opuntias suck for grafting except if you use as scions other opuntias or related genuses such as maihuenias or tephrocactus and such)

How do you use the vaseline, and is it a good way?

Red spines on pachanois.
Photo 1 is a Juul's Giant. Photos 2 and 3 are from an unnamed pachanoi. Photo 4 is from a different unnamed pachanoi.

My trichos are starting to show signs of growth now. I guess pring is coming and it´s time for them to start this seasons grow race. I wish my bigger cuts would get roots soon so i can plant them and get them starting to grow. I see even the cuts standing in perlite for rooting starting to grow. A good sign i guess.

Thats exciting Mateo.
Do you ever plant cuttings directly in the soil they will grow in and allow them to root there?

I was gifted a small trich last fall. I had to plant it and wait ALL winter to see any signs of growth, but sitting in the south window the last few weeks, it has grown a bit, and got some nice plump girth to it. I expect the "penis plant" to expand it roots quickly in that pot.
2 days ago I got what is supposed to be a brigessi penis plant, but I am fairly sure it is just a monstrose in general. Got some nubs on the bottom that look like the start of roots, it was a cutting. I need to grab a bag of cacti soil today and get that bitch going.

So I won this little guy for $15 shipped. I felt bad, no one bid on him, so I scooped him up at the end as opening bid. It is supposed to be monstrose penis, but I think its just monstrose, IF I understand all this right.
Sorry the pics suck. I am guessing those are the start of root nubs on the bottom. If I got this right, I need to trim down the spines and put it about 1/3 into cacti soil and just leave dry just like a cutting right?

Just bury the spines? I want to try to orient it growing straight up best as possible. Where the pup came off the mother, it is at an angle. To get it buried right so it will go straight up, one side will have a few spines under soil.

I guess I should have pointed out, that when I originally said remove spines, in my mind I was thinking just a few bottom spines.

You will always get stabbed no matter how much you try not to. You ever get one under your thumb nail? Dont recommend it.

On my penis plant the pups always start out with long spines then go spineless as they grow.
