1/4 pint jars for Brf cakes
    #25077725 - 03/20/18 01:21 PM (6 years, 9 days ago)

I'm new to all this and I have tons of 1/4 pint jars I was gonna make cakes with. Has anyone used these? I would like to use what I have available. I plan on doing a bottle fruiting chamber or fruit directly in the jars. I am not very worried about high yields. I just gonna get a few grams for now. Let me know what you think!

Smaller cakes dry out too fast once put into fruiting conditions, and don't support a good flush, but given your goals of a small amount of fruits, and not removing cakes from jars it'll be fine.  1/2 pints are considered the minimum size for good results.

I use 1/4 pint cakes in a sgfc and they are not great but they work if you don't want a lot. I get flushes around 2-3 gs dry per per cake. After the first flush I just bury them in my yard and replace with new cakes.

Agree with all this.

I played around with 1/4 pints a few years ago, it can work, the mushrooms will just be really small.

So you got 2-3 grams dry from one flush? That would be good enough for me right now.

Do you think the small jars would get less contaminations? I'm assuming colonize pretty fast?

Size has nothing to do with contaminants

Well my thinkin was that the faster it colonized the less chance I would have of a contamination.

flushes like the picture bod posted are typical for 1/4 pints, give or take a couple shrooms.

You can get even smaller if you want.

My advice would be to grate a bunch of them up and use them as spawn in a bulk sub.

In my opinion mini monos are way more stealthy than cakes but hey. You know your situation better than I do.
