Small SGFC for 2 cakes. How does this look?
    #25074262 -

So with my first batch of BRF cakes, I only had 2 cakes turn out the way I had expected. So rather than use a ton of perlite on my 64 qt Sterlite container, I decided to use this smaller container that I found at the store today. Is there any reason that this would function? What do you all think?

I'm not sure, but the evaporation rates are probably alot different, unless you mathematically scaled down everything (rate of holes, amount of perlite, etc etc).  I really have no clue though, I'd wait on an answer from a trusted cultivator.

As long as there are holes on the bottom of fruiting chamber it looks ok.  Foil needs trimming down to circumference of cakes to allow perlite to do it's job of aiding in providing an ample microclimate to surface of cakes.

No matter the size of container the holes are 2 inches apart on all sides. Good ones were cylinder containers used to hold cereal I used for single cakes. misted and fanned as usual. What you have should be fine.

A SGFC is designed to deliver adequate FAE 24/7, automatically without need of manual fanning.  However, a proper misting schedule will need to be followed.

Why do we need holes all over a shotgun fruiting chamber? Seriously, think about it. A couple for fresh air makes sense but all over? That's retarded.

When we have monos, they don't need holes on the bottom, the substrate humidifies the whole thing without any additional holes on the bottom using natural air movement / evaporation inside the chamber.

Why not just make a standard monotub design and fill it with wet perlite. Wouldn't it work exactly the same way as a mono filled with substrate? Why would wet perlite function any differently than a bunch of wet coir.

In my opinion all those extra holes do is speed up the drying of the perlite. I'm sick of seeing noob after noob with blue dry cakes in sgfcs.

I say it's time to take a shotgun to the shotgun fruiting chamber and end this bullshit.

Considering this is my first grow, I didn't want to stray too far off the beaten path. So I just did as instructed to the best of my ability without wasting too much.

Noted. I will trim the foil down today. Thanks for the advice. Also; I do have holes in the bottom as well.

I'm open to suggestions. Although, I'm not sure if it's too late to change what I'm doing with this grow or not. I've been wanting to do a bulk grow. Perhaps I could use these as spawn? Or maybe I should cover up some of the holes to prevent drying?

Just keep doing what your doing and mist your cakes if they look dry.
