Questions about gypsum
    #25065919 - 03/15/18 02:10 PM (6 years, 15 days ago)

so i noticed some of my pats kinda clump together, some people have said to add a little bit of gypsum to help with this. my question is do i add the gypsum during the boil, or after they dry out a bit to each jar? and how much?

cheers

Just add a big handful to ur soak water. The amount doesnt really matter when doing it like that. It gives the grains a nice slick coating. I noticed u can see powder on the grains after but it didnt hurt growth ime

Maybe you need to wash your oats off better?

Clean more of the starches off before you start your soak.

I work with Milo so I have no idea if this is going to be of any help lol.

It only takes a couple tablespoons of gypsum while soaking for 7 quart jars of milo.

If clumping is an issue, as mentioned above rinsing grains with hot until water comes back clear will discourage clumping.

Rinsing grains with hot water washes off dirt and debris that will otherwise turn into a sticky gum once a PC cycle has been applied to it.

Gypsum also discourages clumping, as well as, adds calcium and sulfate.  Use agriculture grade gypsum from a garden nursery.
