I’d probably reach for the concave given the choice. I’d still put the smack down with the colorful one tho..

Now you don't have to choose. But convex, colourful buttons are clearly superior and anyone whose fingers actually fit in the concave ones is a little girly hands who can't complete the first level of Mario World.

This is a very important and historical debate.

Obviously I grew up on the bottom concave one, but I think overall the top is superior. It looks better visually, it's more consistent, and I bet it feels better to use.
Still, the bottom one was damn fine. IMO the SNES controller is probably the second best controller of all time, right after the original PSX controller.

The colored buttons make a difference. Maybe it's a placebo but I was stuck near the end of Zelda for a couple weeks - after switching buttons I was kicking ass. Also this frustrating ass SMW level that I probably attempted 50 times, suddenly I breeze through first go. It's like you really are at a slight disadvantage with the stock ones. I got two Euro controllers but noticed they were a different shade of grey, meant to match the Super Famicom color. So I put the buttons in my stock controllers. :autism:
I'm probably in the minority when I say I like the looks of the North American SNES. I like the symmetrical purple switches, and think it looks nice with the colored buttons.

Now that's dedication! I have a few of the asciiPad controllers with the turbo/auto switches with the Euro/Japan motif and it's really comfortable. Convex is just better for moving between buttons and it makes a difference on some intense games, especially on the Y button! I remember getting blisters on my fingers from stuff like Weaponlord on those crappy concave buttons.

I voted stal because I don't really care, but if I had to choose the 'Super Famicon" logo looks better than "Super Nintendo".
