New To Mushroom Hunting

I am a first time grower who has developed a strong passion for mushrooms. I see a lot of different types of wild mushrooms growing around the area where i live. I have just as much fun watching them grow as i do watching my cakes!
Ive done some research on the mushrooms growing in my area ( type, habitats, seasons ).
I was just wondering if their was a good field manual i could order to help me better learn the identities of these mushrooms while out hunting.
I am already out here finding and inspecting mushrooms. I am not looking for any one strain in particular. ( though it would be wonderful to find a active Especially a rare one! ) im just trying to get a better understanding of the mushrooms in my area and what they are.
I will always post a identification thread if i find anything i decide to keep and understand that safety comes first when dealing with wild mushrooms. Also im going to try my hand in spore printing with the mushrooms from my grow so that if i do find something ill be able to better identify and reproduce.
Thank you for your time and i wish you all the very best of luck!

Well considering that your location says Antarctica, that would be a very small field guide. Although with a quick google search, Galerina autumnalis have been found there.

Do you have a smartphone? There are a plethora of mushroom apps with tools to help narrow your ID. Just brush up on the terminology. I would also check for websites specific to your area, as they will have pictures that more resemble what you're looking for.

What state are you in? The United States is a very large country with a wide variety of habitats, if you want recommendations for field guides that may cover your specific area we will need a more precise location.
Mushrooms demystified is mostly useful for California, but newer California Mushrooms book is probably more useful now.

I live in Massachusetts, and Mushrooms of northeast North America by George Barron has been very useful to me and it is quite durable.

I also reccomend "all that the rain promises and more" by david a. Though it is mostly geared towards west coast mushrooms. It has a really good flow chart in the first few pages for learning the process of identifying.

I grew up in Massachusetts. There are actives all over, once you learn their habitats and how they act you will definitely up your chances of success.
I found lots of tiny Cinctulus and some gymns but focused on Cinctulus because once you find them, they are freaking everywhere.
Good luck happy hunting.

That is a rather old book, and it doesn't cover your area very well as the author lives in California.
This book just came out and it is awesome, should be the first book you get: https://www.amazon.com/Mushrooms-Carolinas-Southern-Gateways-Guides/dp/1469638533
The other book you should get is this one:
https://www.amazon.com/Mushrooms-Southeast-Timber-Press-Field/dp/160469730X
This book also just came out, and has a lot of good pictures of really rare mushrooms that occur in your area.

That is not a good book for the east coast, as it only includes west coast species. It's also getting a bit old, the rewrite will come out really soon.

The internet is far better than any app. Use Mushroom Observer.

Thanks, yea I noticed there are a ton of apps but many are lacking information or downright identifying poisonous mushrooms as "edible". Good to see Mushroom Observer is mobile friendly.

There is this one: https://www.amazon.com/Texas-Mushrooms-Field-Corrie-Herring/dp/0292751265
I don't know how good it is though. Probably not amazing, you might be better off using online resources such as Mushroom Observer.

It's not the greatest book for the area, but seems to be the only one written specifically for texas, and would probably cover varieties found in S. Oklahoma
