Are these small fruits just genetics or am I doing something wrong?

So I had a spore print laying around Idk what "variety" I fruited it and it produced small ass fruits about 2" when dried they become tiny AF. So I took a clone from a few big fruits it did produce and agared it about 5 transfers to make sure it was clean and then tried again this time all little 2" fruits.
So am I looking at having genetics stuck in small fruit land with this spore print and clone of big fruit or am I doing something majorly wrong that's preventing them from growing big?
This tub is 3 quarts spawn and 6 quarts coir verm. The picture is what it did in 12hrs I'm sure by morning I'll have mostly open caps and need to harvest my small little guys. Also how would one harvest these twist/rip out or cut out?

Also, with monos it is better to cut to keep the substrate intact. Don't worry about the stumps.
You can get away with twist and pull on cakes.

Def snap a pic right before harvest. They might be a little small for your taste, but there's a shit load of em!

So they're only 2" long when harvested at full maturity? From the top down you can't tell.

Yeah I'd say the average is 2" fresh there are a lot on 1" guys and a few maybe 3 inch guys but most fall at around 2 inches fresh. And this is at the time the veil breaks not full maturity sporlation time

So should I now bottom water the tub or should I let it go onto flush #2. The bulk block has shrunk and pulled away from the tub so I'm assuming that means it's no longer full of water and needs some replenishing... Also will the 2nd flush pop up on top of the old cut fruit ends or will it only pop up from non fruited areas? Cuz there really isn't much area untouched fromnthe first flush lol

My understanding is that it's mainly due to the mycelium eating the substrate, water loss will be a factor but not as much as people think. Otherwise after dunking, the substrate would get bigger

I prefer the smaller shrooms, only eat a bit of crackers then
Its not the sub drying out per sae, when it drys out to much the myc network shinks it will never return to original size because of that.
I had a 5 month old tub that didnt shrink at all because it never got that dry were the myc was sqeezing every drop it could to support the whole network.

I'm curious if that's true if the myc has eaten away some mass of the sub and that's why it doesn't fully reinflate after soaking.
OP do you prefer to eat them small before they open or are u super paranoid about spores being dumped, those all opened up yeah but they look gorgeous to me, don't appear to have dropped. That seems like prime picking time to me, no?
