Jeez man, what kind of lighting do mature Novo's actually need then?... at what age / height is a couple of CFL tubes not good enough anymore?

I have also wondered this. This past winter has been erratic and has taken a toll on my 2 plants and 1 died. Now the last one is slowly making its way out of dormancy. So this spring and summer time i wanna build some kind of a box with a light.

I need good light brand recommendations. No vendors, just a brand.

Wow that is one beautiful plant. Mine would get like that and when they had that many leaves it was time for a chew.

Awesome stuff matt. :grampofapproval:

I just received fresh seeds of coca, of a mother bush a few meters where I live, remember that I am from Colombia, I can say that sandy soils keep small shoots alive for months by giving them an intense green color, clear, with material organic and barley manure has made the ph ideal. the implementation of mycorrhizae also seems to have a positive effect on coca and the use of nutrients in the soil

Matt, that is a healthy nice plant you got, good work.

Abraxxas, Nice, your plants also seem green and very healthy looking.
You must be doing things right.
Keep us uppdated how those berries are going for you.
I have one E.coca berry who has started put out a root and another i think is coming also.
And i planted 2 E.novo berries from my own plants that was also sprouting.
I hope it turns out well.

Regarding lights, i use a cheap china 300W LED and a 70W coolwhite CFL in my growtent.
Before i got the spidermites they looked really healthy, flowered and gave me a few berries.
I will start a war with the mites in a few days when the last berries are gone from the plants.

don mateo advise that you sterilize your substrate before use, for germination and for live plants some bugs like worms can be fatal, you can soak your substrate with boiling water or by baking the whole substrate, so you kill mites, cochineals and you have a substrate good

for germination the coca berry is delayed in leaving, I made a bath of sodium hypochlorite to disinfect the meat of the berries, when these decompose they will not bring any maleficious fungus,

for when germinate to avoid fatalities I scarify the four corners to the seeds until it releases the seedlings

abraxxas, what concentration % of the bleach (sodium hypochlorite) solution do you use and how long do you soak the berries?
Im allways afraid i use to strong bleach or soak too long so it damages the berries.

Today the last 2 of my E.novo berries did fall off the plant.
They managed to get to the stage when they are orange and im sure they are enough developed to germinate.
I know this because 3 of my erlier berries from this plant have now germinated and these were less developed.
Only one berry has not germinated but this one was all green and surely not ready.

Here is a picture of the 2 berries that fell today.

Micaele, i don´t know if you can see it but they got your name on them.

Now i can start the warefare on the spidermites that are tormenting my cocas.
Any advice how to get rid of them for good?

That's incredible, big thanks! Homegrown Novo berries, I'm super happy to get the opportunity to grow those!

I double checked my E.Coca berries that I thought had started to germinate. I was wrong, it was just a string of sphagnum moss

Does everyone surface sow their seeds? I like to lay them on too and press them gently. Then i can see as a tap root emerges.

matte, just enough to deposit 5 ml of hypochlorite in water and stand for 10 minutes stirring without hurting the berry, keeping it integrated, or you can do bath of hydrogen peroxide and water 50/50 so leave for a few hours and you can put directly to germinate
for germination I use moisture trap so water penetration is ensured in the seed

OK, thanx abraxxas.
I have tried 1% hydrogen peroxide but i took them out after 3-4 minutes.
So i can soak them little longer without problems, good to know.
And i can use bleach for 10 minutes, perfect.

Ferrel, i have germinated my berries in moist sphanum moss and when the emerging root is about 1cm i plant them in a loose soilmix with perlite.
I make a hole in the soilmix so the root points downwards and the seed up.
I try to get the seed at 45 degree angle but it not so important, it will push up towards the light.
When germinating the berries in the moist sphagnum moss i keep it in small baggies or my favorite, a glass petri dish.
I put the baggie or petri where i have my seeds so it get about 28-34 degrees C something.
One can do a lot of ways, many use coco instead of sphagnum moss and some just plant the berries directly in soilmix in a pot.
It all seem to work pretty good as long as the berries are good.

I got at least one E.coca berry germinated.

It´s about ready for planting in a pot as you can see.

The sphagnum moss can be tricky, sometimes it looks like a germination starting, like this

Dont know if moss or germination start on this e.coca berry.

My third germinated e.novo berry from my own plant

Its strange one almost green berry has germinated

This orange has germinated but not the green one.
But another orange and a almost green one has both germinated.
So 3 out of 4 has germinated if not counting these last 2 orange that another shroomerite will try germinate.

This is how hot they have it when germinating.

Good to know buddy.

Well my seeds are out for delivery and i got 9 days left here. If they were sent registered mail then someone will have to sign for thwm and i wont be home til next week. I hope they survive til then. Dont know how long berries ultimately last in a package like that.

I dont really know how long they survive in a small bag in darkness.
As long as they are not dry they hopefully make it.
I would guess somewhere around 3 weeks maybe a bit more.
I depends also how hot it is where stored.
If colder like 10 degrees C, they last longer and if hotter less time.

Let us know how it went, it can be a good info to know.

Good luck.

Checked the post tracking and they left a notice. oh well. Now its a waiting game. As soon as i get home next wednesday afternoon i will go and pick them up. I guess the only ones that get planted are the coca berries when they arrive.
