Dark Blotches on 1st BRF Cake Grow... Safe to Eat?

This is my first attempt at this. I just cleared a condensation clog in the line coming from the ultrasonic humidifier, so I believe that’s why they shriveled up a bit. Humidity did drop for about 2 Days. Poor babies. Will they plump back up or should I harvest these?
More importantly, I’m looking for some experienced opinions on the discoloration around the cakes and on the base of the stalks.
If you need more info, let me know! Thanks in advance.

Someone with more experience may correct me, but I think they just need moisture. Raise Rh and givem a good misting. Probably just bruising.

Looks like bruising to me. I too would be interested in commentary from our more experienced growers about whether that means too little or too much water.
Bruising = safe to eat.

It's all bruising and yes they are safe to eat. Mist your cakes more they look dry. Also judging by the finger print on one of the cakes the bruising is probably from being handled too much. You should've rolled in verm too. Did you dunk for 24hrs?

Thanks everyone for the replies! Them being dry makes a lot of sense in hindsight.
FascistBullyBoy, I was under the impression you did not need to mist when using an ultrasonic humidifier? Also, the guide I followed did not mention dunking or rolling so I went straight from the jars to the fruiting chamber. This was the only time I handled them (besides taking the photos) and I did so with the utmost care. Are they are that fragile and prone to bruising?
That being said, should I harvest the growth and dunk & roll immediately? Or let these go and dunk/roll once they’ve matured?
Thanks again for your help, it is greatly appreciated!

A: I've never read anything about someone using an ultrasonic humidifier. Go buy a spray bottle for 1$ and just mist them gently. B: dunk and roll only helps. Isnt mandatory. Although dunking is highly recommended.
I wouldnt harvest a premature fruit and then dunk and roll, personally.
And yes. They're super easy to bruise.

Ok after looking into it I guess some people use humidifiers for grow tents and that type of set up but for a cake set up and not a monotub I dont think you need it. Then again I dont see any perlite in your images.

Let em finish then dunk and roll. Build a proper SGFC and put 6 inch of perlite in the bottom. Yes they are that delicate they bruise when picked up.
You won't need the humidifier when you have a proper SGFC. It's probably the reason stuff is bruising..

https://www.shroomery.org/8411/The-Magic-Mushrooms-Growers-Guide This is the guide I’ve been following. It sounds like it might be outdated? It was the most complete guide I could find when starting but if there is a better one out here I’d love to hop over to that. It sounds like I e got to quickly do some more research on a better setup which includes perlite...
Really appreciate all your feedback. What a nice community. Thanks to everyone who chimes in!
Also, this is the darkest blotch I’ve seen yet - is it still bruising or so we have a new factor emerging?

It looks like a mush that aborted due to a bruise (maybe?) and is now decomposing. Id pick that off your healthy cake kind sir

Your cakes are are good. All you need to do is build a SGFC then add wet perlite. Dunk and roll cakes like in RR video with roadkill. Sit cakes on trimmed foil(to size of cakes) and mist daily. That's all there is to it. No need for hygrometer or air pumps or fanning.
SGFC explained.

You all are miracle workers! The new SGFC setup is working beautifully. My first mushies began to break their veils yesterday so I cut them off the cluster and found a dark blotch inside that was not showing outside. Is this typical? Is it internal bruising or something worse? It doesn’t look like most of the bacterial contains I’ve seen posted. Opinions welcome! Thanks again!

First flush seems done so I’m dunking and rolling again this weekend. I had two jars that weren’t fully inoculated at the time of setting up the fruiting chamber for the other six. I actually forgot about them since I was concentrating on caring for the six. Today I opened one of them up and this is what’s been going on under the lid. Doesn’t smell bad. But is that grey mold? Based on appearance, I am keeping this jar quarantined as I ask for your experienced opinions.
Again, I want to thank everyone for helping me out with this. You all are amazing. Thank you!
