That kind of low (at least by my standards of you, which I admit are very high).   Navalny has never been very popular in Russia.  We'll see what happens after his latest episode of returning home from Germany, but before that he's never been popular.

Well thanks and sorry Falcon but I've offered some evidence which chopstick refuses to even look at.
The ad hominem remarks piss me off after a while and I honestly think voting
for Trump is about as close to voting for a clown as anyone can get.

I accept he isn't popular in Russia, but is he a clown? I don't think so. I think it's very admirable that he returned and lets face it, being charged for breaching his parole conditions because he flew to Germany for emergency healthcare is political bastardry.

Putin ok'd the request from Navalny's wife to let him fly to Germany... maybe he should step up and do some of the 30 days jailtime?

What's your thoughts?  I think it sucks.

That's a fair statement

But he violated parole before he even flew to Germany.

To be fair, I could only find articles claiming that after 20 Aug.

I thought I heard Linton Besser ABC saying that was the case so I’ll double check it too.
Cheers

Right now Google isn't letting me do a search for a specific date range (I'm trying to search for "Navalny" "parole" between 1 Jan 20 and 18 Aug 20.  It freezes up.  It's happening on two different computers of mine.

Is anyone else having a problem with custom date ranges on Google?

Moscow’s prison service said earlier this week it had orders to arrest Navalny for missing parole hearings during his convalescence, potentially converting a suspended sentence of three and a half years that expired in December into hard prison time.

While he was recovering in Germany, the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service demanded that he immediately present himself to a probation officer or face prison for violating a non-custodial criminal sentence, which was based on politically motivated charges. He has now been arrested “for multiple violations of the probationary period.”

FSIN, the prison service, said in a statement that Navalny, 44, was on a national wanted list because he had last year repeatedly failed to report at least twice a month to them under the terms of a suspended sentence on embezzlement charges.

It has applied to a court to convert his suspended sentence of three-and-a-half years into real jail time.

“Taking into account the facts of malicious violations, guided by the principle of inevitability of responsibility and the demands of the law that all citizens of the Russian Federation are equal before without exception, (FSIN) is obliged to take all actions to arrest the violator,” it said.

Navalny says the original 2014 embezzlement conviction, in which he and his brother were found guilty of stealing more than 30 million roubles (€336,000) from two companies, was trumped up.

He said he could not report in at the end of last year anyway, as he was being treated as an outpatient in Germany. The prison service says he was discharged from a Berlin hospital in September and should have returned to Moscow.

“In theory they can detain him as soon as he arrives (in Russia) but initially only for 48 hours,” Vadim Kobzev, one of Navalny’s lawyers, told Reuters.

The prison service said in a statement late on Monday that it had summoned Navalny to report to the inspection authority and that his suspended sentence could be changed to a real jail term if his suspected violations of the terms of the suspended sentence were proven to be true.

The prison service mentioned no deadline, but Navalny posted a screenshot of a message to his lawyer which said he had until 9am local time (06:00 GMT) on Tuesday to return and show up at a Moscow office.

Kira Yarmysh, his spokeswoman, said on Twitter, it was impossible for Navalny to return in time, that he was still convalescing after his poisoning, and accused the prison service of acting on orders from the Kremlin.

“There’s no way he could appear at the Moscow Criminal Inspectorate tomorrow. But does the FSIN really care about common sense? They were given an order, they are fulfilling it,” she wrote.

He was given less than one day's notice to show up in Moscow from Germany.
Sounds like political bastardry to me.

Hey just wondering why you felt the need to post the above when it was very easy to establish that was not the case?

He must be viewed as some kind of a threat. His supporters were gathered at the airport at Vnukovo where his flight was scheduled to land. Over 50 people were arrested there.  The flight was unexpectedly diverted to Sheremetyevo. Some supporters in St. Petersburg were blocked from traveling to Moscow.

These authors said he has sizable popularity in Moscow.

Figured I’d pop in to our Russiagate thread and let everyone know that Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi both think the Capitol riot was orchestrated by Putin.

Imagine being this disconnected from reality.

You’re making the claim that they think putin orchestrated the riot. Where are you getting that from?
