I didn't make the Elote, but my first time having one.  Was awesome

Breakfast sausage ragout, with escarole, baby lima beans, onions, red peppers, seasoned with garlic, salt, pepper and turmeric and cooked with white wine, butter and olive oil.

That's just people being lazy or not caring. I don't carefully plate the food I make at home. Good plating will never go away in restaurants though.

i don't think i agree, not necessarily, on the notion of laziness, i think it's just a trend that states "taste is more important". of course visual aesthetics aren't going anywhere, that i can agree with.
