Yeah very hard to see, it'll spread quickly in a few days. Cakes are almost there though.

Yea, its reassuring that it hasnt grown really quickly, otherwise id be worried about contamination. Cakes are growing beautifully, 3 or 4 days left would be my guess. Rye mycelium is more photogenic today.

Now I see it, yeah MS on grains can take a while to germinate. Should be done in a couple of weeks.
When are you going to spawn those cakes?

Yea, it is growing slowly, but ill be g2g with one of the jars so those will colonize much faster. Its looking good tho:
Im not sure. Do they need a week after they look done before I spawn them like I do the 2 I am birthing as cakes? They are growing quickly now: That brf is all one jar, its a little ahead of the others.

Give it a day or two after full colonization. Looks good

Updated pics. Jars 1 and 4 are fully colonized as of friday. Probably going to crumble to coir/verm tomorrow. I read that verm isn't really necessary with pf cakes bceause of the verm already already in the cake? Anyways heres where Im at:

I thought verm was to catch and bacteria if there is no filter on the lid. Or maybe to provide more moisture. Either way it's not necessary. I don't recommend using a verm layer, just a hassle and more work. Keep it simple brother, looking good, crumble it and post some pics. I've been interested in the idea of using cakes to spawn to bulk and also g2g with cakes into big bags like that tek I linked. Need to see more results from everyone.

I can't tell, shitty camera quality these days. Makes it hard for everyone. I need a better camera too lol.
Either that's mycelium or some bacteria, can you try to take another pic? Someone will know more than me for sure.
