Is pinning start or what?
    #25028029 - 02/28/18 08:33 AM (3 years, 4 months ago)

Hello everyone, I have a question and would like help from more experienced producers. This is my first crop and I decided to make a bulk and this is already a fruitful condition about five days and now started to have a different shape as you will see in the photos. My question is: the beginning of the pin or some contamination? The substrate smell is normal, so these balls are very soft, they are not firm. can anybody help me?

You might have somemcontamination there but first and foremost it looks like you need better fresh air exchange coming in.

Can we see a picture of the whole setup?

Edit: also, sorry dude I don't see any pinning going on there. Just mycelium reacting to bad conditions.

So I have in that terrarium six holes covered with micropore for air outlet and also I have an oxygenator of aquaria working inside it, therefore yesterday I even turned off the oxygenator a little because the humidity exceeded 100%. Do you think it may be lack of oxygen?

The micropore tape does not allow enough FAE.

Switch to using loosely gathered polyfill or just open a couple of the top holes.

Don't use the oxygenator. It's obviously not doing anything for you here.

If it's running on a little fish tank pump you can try piping air directly from the pump into the chamber but it really shouldn't be necessary.

It does work though https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/19370404

But because you already have holes in the tub you shouldn't need it.

If you restuff your holes with polyfill then you should get natural air currents working their magic.

I still wanna see a picture of the whole setup. I might be able to tell you which holes to open.

Can you cut off one of those blobs of mycelium and tell us if it bruises blue?

Edit: sorry one more thing: that tray is super saturated. You might want to take the lid of the chamber off for a couple hours and Let it dry out a little. That will give it a nice big breath of fresh air and let conditions even out a little bit. Don't put the lid back on until you only a few glistening TINY drops of water.

I followed his advice exactly, really the tray was very humid, I uncovered it an hour ago and I'll leave it for at least a couple of more ... And about the test that you instructed me I did too (take one of the balls and wound it, la) the smell is exactly from the mushroom! And follow the picture below so you can see the color of it. Just one question, is it okay to leave the cover open? and should I make more holes in it?

A picture is worth a thousand words then ... One more detail, when I took it out of the terrarium it was drying, which indicates the excess humidity.

It is okay to leave the cover open. Full colonization is your number one protection against contamination.

I think more important than more holes is making thenair flow better through the holes you already have.

Also, the fact that the blob is turning blue is a good sign. It means contamination is less likely (still might have some bacteria in there though)

Evaporation of moisture off the substrate is one of the best pinning triggers. Getting the whole thing to dry out, then getting your air flow down should improve conditions enough to get you some fruits.

Okay, so you do not think I need to use the oxygenator anymore? and when the terrarium and the substrate is drier, do I keep it in that shape? or should I humidify more? I apologize for the various questions plus it is my first crop so the doubts arise at high scales ...

And about contamination, I'm cool because I pasteurized the substrate at proper temperature, so I guess if it were to contaminate it, it would have already happened.

Pinning is all about surface conditions. Get rid of the oxygenated, open up those top holes or stuff all the holes polyfill loosely.

After the substrate dries give it a very fine misting and continue to give it a very fine misting whenever it dries and ONLY when it dries.

This jar was grown in open air with my misting it very often.

It's all about fresh air and gently moist surface conditions that allow for evaporation.

Hello Elasticaltiger! Today I took a closer look at my pot and realized that some very different balls of the mycelium were born (follow photo), my question is: are they primordia?

Circled parts are good knots / primordia. The crossed out parts are not so good.

Happiness is too big hehe! First cultivation, first primordias, I believe you know how it is. XD

So I followed exactly his advice to let the substrate evaporate and then apply light layers of mist. Firstly, I have to thank you for that!

Those parts that you marked with X did not fix, do you think I should strip them?
