What color are the spores? I'm guessing Entoloma. Take the spore print on foil in case the spores are white.

See that’s what I thought too, but they smell like cucumbers, also dry tops.

Not weilii. I agree with Entoloma; some of them smell like cucumbers too.

Also the time of year was strange, but we have had some weird weather here. I’m gonna go check my main spot.

Lamellar attachment is off for Entoloma though. I don't really have a good suggestion.

I'd still like to see a spore print personally.

Like, hate to look at them, make them or plainly hate them full stop?

Other than that I think OP's mushroom resembles one of the late winter/ early spring Clitocybe spp.

Yea, Clitocybe sounds better than Entoloma now that you mention it.

Microscopy is going to be needed to determine this one imo.

If its Clitocybe microscopy may not be very helpful, Clitocybe don't tend to have many useful microscopic characteristics, mostly just spore size. The Californian key relies mostly on macroscopic details like how hygrophanous they are and smell...

I meant for genus id, it would determine whether its Entoloma or clitocybe by spore shape or atleast rule out Entoloma.

Yea, the angular spores in Entoloma should be distinct from the spore sin Clitocybe. Wouldn't spore color work too though? I've never seen a Clitocybe leave a salmon pink spore print.

True, but if the specimens no longer dropping spores that's the only way to tell.  I'm just assuming that the specimens are too old now that's where I come up with that

Or maybe do a DNA sequence and end up with Melanoleuca.

Melanoleauca spores are amyloid with ornamented warts and may have conspicuous cystidia so microscopy should help there.
