Help please - New grower
    #25040225 - 03/05/18 11:09 AM (6 years, 24 days ago)

Hi,

I need help with my monotub grow, if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Here is the issue:

I bought live mycilium online, (legal in Canada), it came as a kit, basically I pasteurized straw, added the mycilium in a clear plastic tub, and added the casing layer that they sent with the kit.  I lined the bottom and sides of the tub with aluminum foil.

I put it in a closet to colonize, having added holes with polyfil for gas exchange.

Nothing happened for 6 weeks except the casing started to colonize here and there on the top of the casing layer.

(About 30 percent white mycilium showing through)

I had seen pics where the top was completely white by this time and the dirt layer on top seemed really dry, so I opened the tub to spritz with water.

This seemed to initiate pinning, because a day or two later the white spots formed pins.

About ten of these pins quickly turned into mushrooms and I harvested them about a week later when they opened up.

I got 18 dried grams.

During this period and even now there are about a hundred tiny pins still on the casing layer but they are not growing and its been about 4 days.

The pins are in different stages, some look like tiny little mushrooms but most are just little white balls (I think they are refereed to as hyphal knots?)

Anyway, the tub seems to be stalled and I do not know what to do.

I am adding fresh air two to three times a day, and misting.

Can anyone help?

I do not want to lose any more production but feel like they will not grow any more without some kind of intervention.

Thanks.

6 weeks is a really long time to show fruits.

Hmm. Can we see a picture?

not all of your knots will become mushrooms. don't worry to much about that. i don't know what kind of intervention you are imagining but keeping proper surface conditions while getting fresh air and light is pretty much the name of the game. without knowing a lot more about your shit, i don't know what to say.

as always, a picture of your setup would be very helpful for people to tell you if they see any problems.

Tried to take pics and upload but the site won't let me, I am brand new here, sorry still trying to figure out how to navigate the site.

Just noticed some green mold while taking them, great...

Anyway, I thought maybe dunking or watering might help?

I've heard things about injecting the with water?

Dunking can help between flushes, injecting water is usually only done when youre growing truffles in jars and they've started to dry up.

But youve got green mold so that substrate is done for you.

Time to start a new project!

agreed. you can proceed with green mold but you yields will be greatly reduced and you house will be blown up with evil spores.

Thanks so much guys.

So basically it sounds like I'm pooched.

Oh well, I did get the 18 grams out of it and it was a really fun adventure.

Next time I will go the spore syringe route, the live myc is super expensive for such terrible yield.
