3 Year old Spore Syringe or 3 year old LC

So, I have multiple spore syringes that have been kept in a sealed zip lock bag within an enclosed plastic container within my fridge. I also have 2 jars of 3 year old LC that has also been refrigerated entire time. I have used the LC at about 6 months of age with outstanding results. The LC looks great, just the same as it did 3 years ago FWIW.
Which will offer the greatest chance of success?
Thanks, GT

You could try putting a little of the LC into fresh liquid media and see if it grows. Wouldn't tell you if it was still clean but at least you should know if it is alive in just a few days. I've had year old LC of edible cultures stored at room temperature that was still good so refrigerated for longer is possible.

Im leaning toward using the spore syringe, since I have read of multi-year syringes being used successfully. Only found a few reports of LC over a year old being used successfully. Going to run an extra few jars of the LC also. Im excited, its been a few years.
As a last resort, I do have print but its on a plate and not on paper. It's been exposed to air for years and is likely contaminated. Never used a print, so Im unsure.

Would be better to put said sample of LC to agar to test culture for viability, vigorousness, and cleanliness.

What about putting some of both to agar see which one takes off. Make some transfers and then just go from there? Granted I'm a total noob but this agar thing is badass, great way to get some material to work with you know is clean!!

Update: Inoculated WBS with 3-4 year old spore syringe on the 4th. Seeing first signs of myc today. Will be inoculating new batch of wbs tonight with 3-4 year old LC.
Will keep this feed updated on occasion over the next 6-12 weeks.

No luck with the 3-4 year old syringes or LC. Did manage to get an LC culture going from a 4 year old spore print, however. Will inoculate WBS in a week and will keep the thread posted.

3 days ago I inoculated some rye jars with about 2 year old syringes. So far no myc growth, probably too early yet to tell.
