"These unique cubes can be selectively bred until these unique traits become common, even via multispore inoculation. This new, unique cube may be marketed as a new 'Strain' but it is really just a unique 'Variety' of cubensis spawned from its original race. Still, many vendors market each unique variety as a new 'Strain'. In general, every single commercially available cubensis 'RACE', is actually a domesticated VARIETY of the original specimen. Domesticated cubes contain intentionally limited genetics in order to increase the likelyhood of achieving the desired results, sort of like dog domestication and subsequent breeding." ~ Strains, Varieties, Species
Actually no...if I'm reading correctly.

Nice! Hopefully its short and sweet! Itll give me a rough timeline as well.
It's been less than two days and it's already about 25% colonized, going to say maybe five more days before it's ready to fruit.
Shit yea!! Cant wait to do my shoeboxes!!

Crumble your cakes to make more spawn then add it with some verm or coir/verm and spawn to shoebox, I'm interested to see the results of how that would turn out.
I think I might do that. Best thing about these tubs is that's easy to experiment with because it's so small.

Yea ill crumble 2 into a shoebox for sure, should I do 1 cake per shoebox or 2? Id do all of them but I want to be safe to make at least 1 print, then ill be experimenting alot more, and if they work out in the shoeboxes, and I dont see why they wouldn't, then.. idk..fuckin sweet lol. Still waiting on my rye to show any signs :/ I inoculated march 3rd so its not a biggie, just was hoping for a bit of myc this morning.

Each are 1 pint right? maybe try one jar just to see how much one can yield and how many flushes. I really want to see that idea happen lol. I think I'm going to experiment with brf again strictly for these tubs of course.

No, my brf are 1/2 pints, and yea, im so stoked that all 4 are turning out nicely as my first grow! Maybe ill do both in 1 if my rye turns out. 50th post!! Now I can rate and be rated! Booyaw!

Okay I'd do 2 cakes into 1 box, 1:1 or 1:2 ratio. I'm going to try this out soon, I really want to see what it can do. 50th post & ratings congrats, forgot about that, I'm gonna start using that haha.

Nothing better than a chick who's on your side about your projects. Dying to see this brf crumbled and spawned into a 6qt tub. I'll be waiting on grow log. If not I'll be doing one for sure

Yea shes cool, not interested in enjoying the fruits of our labor, but finds it neat lol, and tolerates my head in shroomery all day long lol. And yes I will definitely be doing a grow log with those, I've yet to see a post on how they do in the 6qt's. Stoked man, the rate they are going it shouldn't be long. Do I let them do their one week consolidation? Im stoked to see how this grow log flourishes! 25% in 2 days bro! I figure youll get your oz each first flush. Fingers crossed.

Everyone would enjoy this hobby if they actually seen it done. It's awesome and rewarding. BRF colonizes very fast 1-2 weeks with MS as grains can take up to 2-4 weeks for me with MS. As far as I can tell this tiny 6qt colonizes fast with regular grain spawn, it may be sooner than 5 days. So to combine the brf and these small tubs, makes from inoculation to fruiting in a very short time which is very appealing to me. I think it would be a fun project and beneficial for cloning and taking prints and just experimenting with different substrates and ratios. I sometimes leave them for a week if I don't want to use them just yet or if I am waiting on other jars to colonize to spawn them together, I have left them longer but they begin to shrink after a while due to loss of moisture. Once my grain is colonized I'll wait a day or two then spawn.

I agree, I just stumbled across it on youtube one day and was instantly interested. And yea I agree, if a person can get a good yeild from such a simple and fast spawn then hell yes! Would be nice if you could to like g2g but with brf if you got rid of the dry verm layer.. could you? Like have proper filters and ships and take a sliver of your cake and drop it into another sterile brf mix? U know what I mean?

Yes of course, I said you should do that. As long as you're sterile and using a nicely built SAB you'll be fine. Follow this amazing guide.
https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/1300760
That guide may be 15 years old but it's one of my favorites for being how simple yet beneficial it is. I'll be making brf quart jars (hopefully 1-2wk colonization) and then just crumbling them into a bag like so then spawning to these 6qt tubs with coir/verm or peat/verm or even just verm.

Well thats awesome! I knew about the bags, I guess its virtually the same thing just much bigger. Awesome! Ive read that brf are more lacking in potency compared to more nutritious grains? Or is that just if you spawn them as cakes?

I haven't done pf brf cakes in a long time. Cakes take more work ime, grains to a monotub is much more easier, less work, more rewarding. Haven't looked back since. However I've been seeing people crumble their cakes into tubs lately and now I want to give it a go in these tubs and see how they work. If it's faster than grains, I'll start using brf again, but I'll never replace grains with brf because grains are easy to prepare (throw your grain and water in a jar then PC). As for potency, ime, cakes are just as good as fruits from grains.
Edit: if you're asking if a pint of grains will produce more than a pint of b4f, I believe so however it depends on how they are prepared, inoculation, etc..
Man all this talk makes me wanna make a brf batch and do some brf transfers then spawn to some tubs.

Love that bag tek! And yea I suppose it probably is, just figured for the Impatient type cakes are quick to colonize. And thats good news about potency cheers brother. Ill be back to hijack your thread tomorrow lol jk. Have a Good night. Thanks for all the info tonight and I look forward to seeing how far along your tubs get.

I mistakenly left my space heater on last night, for about 7-8hrs. I'm hoping I didn't do any damage to my tubs or jars. Trying to lower temps right now however temps could have been high as 85-100f last night. I notice on the sides nearest to the heater have no condensation. A little worried I might have done some damage.
Heres some pics after two 1/2 days. They colonized much more last night however, still thinking some damage has been done. Anyone have anything to say about high temps?

If it accidentally got hot for 8hours it probably didn’t do much damage. Keep in mind cubes in the wild are prone to warm conditions so I day or two of increased temps isn’t gonna hurt them. I would just do a little misting maintenance because the subs may have dried out a little, but other than that I’d keep on doing what you’re doing...no fear no worries
