Ferrel has successfully rooted clones in a standing glass of water. I believe he said the water was changed once. Kratom is tough and can go a while in just about any cloning environment.

It can take a few weeks though. Though some have reported a fraction of that.

Gl to you

Dont rremember the timespan but it was my hirsuta that rooted in water. I gotta take better notes because i sent one to you and the pineddown. I think. But ita not, veru hard to do,it that way.

Thats really nice MG.
Good to know they root good with this method.
When spring comes, im going to buy me some cuttings.
I guess my seedlings will take long time to develop into big plants so i better get some cuttings also.

Seedlings grow up pretty fast, you'll see. I took those cuttings from seedlings that were 4 and a half to 5 months old.

I took this pic on 04/07/2017:

Same seedlings 4 months and 10 days later on 08/17/2017:

The 2 best ones that overwintered properly, on 02/01/2018:

Well it looks like my biggest in ground and 30gallon tub kratoms survived a freakishly cold winter. They died back to stumps but they will grow back fast.

I had some clones survive that I rooted in winter with 0 artifical sunlight  and a few other small kratoms survive that were brought indoors

My god they grow fast for you MG.
You must have very green fingers to be able to get them to grow that fast.

I know they do grow fast when big but the seedlings seem slow.
Hope they take off like a rocket soon.
I have my eyes on one of those 450W dual spectrum CFL bulbs.
That one maybe could make them launch off rocket style.

Excellent results on that areoponic setup MG :super: those roots are sexy af. What watt LED are you using for them?

And thats whats up pinedown! I know that was a bit of a freakout wondering if she was coming back or not. Fuck ive been checking them everyday... sometimes a few times lol :facepalm3: fortunately, nonkratom related, a few of my other types of plants are reemerging from the grave

I trimmed off all the dry dead wood on all of them taking a little at a time until I got to living tissue. Funny how seeing a 14ft tree become an 8" stump never made me so happy. I might have lost one of the 5fters but only time will tell.  Next winter I will definitely be insulating the trunks up to the 1st set of branches because that is definitely what kept them alive. All the smaller clones will go in the greenhouse

Tried taking one of my seedlings into a small kratky hydroponic. It survived the transplant, hopefully I'll see some changes in growth rate compared to the ones grown in soil

Is that the DIY Clooner/rooter using the ultrasonic misters that you have described in the DIY section?
Or a more small hydro setup thing?

The DIY Clooner/rooter looks like it could be good for rooting and growing Mitragyna cuttings.
My Pereskiopsis got very nice roots in notime using this one.
Since Mitragynas love water and humidity it seems to be the perfect thing.

But when it comes to the seedlings it might be too early to put them into the clooner/rooter.
Do you have any pics of this, it would be intresting.
As soon i have a big enough seedling i will try put it in the clooner for a test.
I grew a Riafat in a bubbler bucket setup long ago, it was growing very fast.
Much faster than in soil.

Ferrel, that Bumblebee looks like it´s about to start grow very nicely now.
I hope your Riafat also starts showing new growth.

Thats the thing. I think that by this time in our warm weather it should have at least some sprouts. I dont know but this time it may not make it even if it has barely some life.

Scratch the bark near the base of the plant and see if the Cambium layer is still green. Do you know what that is? I can run you through how to do it otherwise. If it's green then give it some time and it should sprout. I can't really tell how healthy it is. It kind of looks ok. Rifat are slow to burst into life I've found.

I think that they're still a big too weak to jump into the fogponic/mister or w/e it's called. Also, I don't have anything else to put there so I'm not going to set it up just for a few kratom seedlings.
I just went with the quickest experiment using an old spice jar. I don't have a camera handy right now, but it looks something like this

Just make sure some air can get to the roots and it should be fine

With the lid on the fogponic, it reaches insane humidity. So that would probably work just fine. They are heave feeders though, so the foggers would have to handle a bunch of nutrients.
I'll definetly try if they reach a bigger size

Edit: No need to nominate this to picture of the month

I sowed a few Acacia Confusa seeds last year only one survived being sunburned, dehydrated, and frozen. It looks really good now. It's time to give it a bigger home before it goes in ground next year. It passed the tough seedling test. Only the strong survive as ferrel said

On a kratom note the ones that didn't die back to stumps are putting out growth and I see buds on most of the stumps right now.

Here's one of our bigger Kratom plants. I think it's around 3 years of age, came from cutting. Getting ready to transplant it soon.
