Just got done streaking 2 plates with ps caerulescens, took 1 ps azurescens transfer, 3 tamp transfers, 6 ps alutaceae transfers, 1 ps cubensis "purple mystic" transfer, and noc'd up 1 plate with coprinus comatus lc.
I expanded my coprinus lc to more lc (0.25% malt), noc'd up 3qts of oats with my remaining lc, and noc'd up 4qts with ps azurescens. Got 5 more qts of grain ready for something.

My PE bootbox is 6 days and fully colonized on top.
I was planning on casing it in a day or two once i have time to pasteurize.
What’s y’all 2 cents on casing substrates? I was thinking just jiffy seed starter to keep it simple (pasteurized) but I was wondering what y’all like now a days. Or have most switched to just CVG top layer? Or maybe jiffy mixed with extra verm and some lime...?
Thanks all you wonderful folk
I also have a king oyster jar that needs to be opened. Was thinking of top fruiting after adding a casing layer... so any opinions on that would be great. Ideally I could use the same casing substrate for the king and the PE.

My PE won't fruit from cvg casing. At least not well. Same clone with jiffy mix pasteurized, flushes like a champ.

Can't wait until my azurescens grain jars are colonized. Gotta go pick up a bag of alder chips monday.
I'm getting 2 patches started in different areas. I might start a patch out in the woods, I know a few good spots with springs

The CVG isn't really a casing...it's just more sub on top...it's likely being fully colonized and thus, not providing the benefits of an actual casing.

Aside from jiffy mix and peat/coir/lime, what are some other casings that have been tried?
I know some have talked about soil. And I don't want to hear vermiculite!

I think I might have seen something somewhere about using worm castings in casing mixes, can't remember where though. It could've been a shot down idea for all I know.

Guys Do your cling tend to slide when wrapping wet petris from condensation in the sab? The clings tend to stick to dry things but slide when there is water present from condensation
If so does it add a contam vector?

Condensation on the outside of the petri?
Are you sure it's not wet from misting?
Either way I don't wrap wet petris. Pinch it closed with one hand and wipe it clean with the other

i wondered the same thing in my dry sab thread. ive never ever seen condensation inside my SABs walls. maybe its from hot breath
or from peoples freshly steaming body from takin a shower? radiating heat? i steam up my car sometimes that way.
