Blue Mycelium

Hi, I recently inoculated some jars full of organic rye berries(proper portions). I’d say maybe a week has passed and the mycelium I see growing through the 4 ports in which I added spores to the grains seem to be blue or darker than white. So far it’s only grown in stripes(straight below the holes injected). So I don’t believe it could be bruising. Any help?

First viewed them in the dark so I may have been worried about nothing. Thanks for the help in advance!

That's trich.
Or some other green mold.
It's not cubensis mycelium.
Better luck next time

Actually I don't think it's your pressure cooking process. I think you have a contaminated syringe because it seems to be growing where the spore solution dribbled down the wall.

Except when I don't. possibly fucked up a whole batch of agar today.

So this is the "vert" I sometimes see referred to in threads?

Yes.
It's super fucking sneaky because it looks CLOSE enough to cube mycelium that when it's intertwined with healthy myc an inexperienced grower can't tell the difference. They may think their jars are just a little bruised or something because the vert and cube myc grow together and the cube myc fluffs up in reaction kinda obscuring the more wirey vert threads.
Just hard for new people to see when it's mixed.

I bought syringes online.. there’s no way to tell if contaminated or not until this stage is there? Also do I just wipe down with alcohol to reuse jars?

You don't understand. There is no more growing these.
As far as reusing jars you have to pressure cook those for 45 minutes before you open them. Then clean them out, then finally run the thrtough the dishwasher.
This is why people prefer to toss jars instead of reusing them. It takes a lot of time to get them safe.
If you try to just alcohol wipe them you will spread mold spores all over your house and you will leave contamination inside the jar for your next grow.

Helpful information for newbies. It really looks like a myc to me. Good to have that experienced growers, otherwise we the newbies are out of the game.

It is a mycelium. A mold mycelium, not a mushroom mycelium.

Agar is the best way to weed out contams in spore syringes.
