Fuck no I don't blame you on the coir...$10 for a 3pk is fuckin ridiculous... I got 24 bricks for 48..probably could find it cheaper but $2 a brick is the best I could do in a pinch... Because I got tired of looking and said fuck it

I bought 5 3pks for my first big run, from a pet store...15 bricks cost about $60...valuable lesson learned...get a deal online for materials so price per zip goes down...I did the math after my 1st run and it cost me $4.44 per zip that run..the 2nd run cost me like $1.77/oz..once I get my shit together my next run should out me under $1/oz since I got all the totes I needed and don't plan on buying more

I get mine foe 8.99 foe 3 bricks but the store I go to only puts out 3 packs at a time and if you ask for more or if they say that's all they have until they get another shipment.

I'd love to make the switch to straw for that reason. I get coir fairly cheap from Ebay but it gets expensive anyways and it's such a bummer having to depend on an online source (can't get coir locally).
Problem is how the hell I'm supposed to fit a bail of straw in my car and then carry it up to my mush apartment for all the neighbourhood to see.

No pelletized straw or shredded straw here. :mad2:

Put it in a duffel bag.  A few chunks at a time.

Actually I did that once lol But it was because I asked the guy selling them if I could put the bale into bags, he was about to say no but I insisted politely and he accepted grudgingly in the end. I don't think I could that twice.

Hpoo is out of the question too, can't find it dry no matter what and even if I did, there's no fucking way I'd be pasteurizing shit in bottles and all that stuff, too lazy for that. Straw is easier to pasteurize.

I confess, I got really excited about my tamp germinating and transfered it to a bunch more plates. It turned out it was mold. I'm a mold farmer.

Yeah. This one turned blue ~36 hours after  the transfers.

I checked the official stone producers thread, nobody has blue tamp mycelium.

I confess I secretly hope it's easy to be Johnny Appleseed with edible mushrooms, so currently I have no great plan for my used substrates so I toss them in the woods. Went for a morning walk in the woods, and I imagine this is what it's like when a parent goes to school and sees their kids  doing well :

I was surprised to see the pink oysters doing well with their entire surfaced exposed but I think the short grass helped make a microclimate around the bottom and their 3rd flush is better than I expected

So I confess I stacked the ouster block to give spores a little freefall time to catch an air current to a new home

And look at the fresh shaggy mane pins right next to them! I'm surrounded by mushrooms in the woods, grow my bitches!!

I confess that is beautiful, I do the samething.

On another note, my Uncle passed today, he was one of the most amazing men. His brother just had open heart surgery yesterday, they were best friends and career U.S. Marines "Master Gunny".

Unfortunately, I don't think so, I found out he was in surgery when his brother passed. I thought the open heart was done yesterday. My dads 77 and I've never seen him cry until today. They all enlisted the same day and were all very close, I wish I knew how to comfort them.

Damn... I remember the only time I seen my dad cry....breaks your heart and there's not much you can say to make it better, just gotta stand by for emotional support... I would hate to be whoever has to tell the uncle that just had surgery... Thats gonna be tough....

His eldest son has the unfortunate task, the doctors are asking for a couple days before he's told.
