Thanks for the Tek, and thanks in general to all who help out here. I've been reading lots and messing around a bit too.
I did everything as stated in the first post except I used corn starch instead of potato flakes. It's what I had on hand...
They're in the PC right now. I'll find out later this week how they work out. I use an instant pot for my PC. It has worked exceptionally well for my wbsf cakes.
This is my foray into agar. I'm cautiously optimistic.

Anyone have experience with these? The lids don't have a pp5 logo on them, and I saw someone in the thread earlier recommended ball jars with kerr plastic lids. These ball lids feel kinda flimsy so I don't know. I'm gonna test one to see if it melts in the PC before I try some agar work, but if anyone knows for sure from experience whether or not they work it'd save me some time and a mess.

They're autoclaveable. Those mason jars are for canning purposes which are meant to be pressure cooked.

Yeah those mason jars will work fine and you don't have to drill a hole in the lids because they are made to be pressure cooked.

Do the plastic lids not form a vacuum like the metal ones? I've seen a few use them as-is for agar, but figured they were leaving loose in the PC.

People have had successful results just by backing the lid off a little bit while in the PC, then tightening them as you unload them, so that's what I'm trying.

I've used this exact package of jars many times. They were at Target on sale. These specific jars are nice, too, because they don't have all that decor you get on the larger packsβeasier to see inside.
And yes, just loosen 1/4" or so. Then tighten outside of PC.

They rarely come with a seal but they will vaccume on and warp making them near impossile to remove if you don't back them off

I followed these directions for my first Agar usage. I bought the glad mini rounds as stated. I filled them with my Agar mixture about the same as the pitcures. THEN SNAPPED THE CAPS ON, with the micro pore tap. wrapped them in tin foil. Then I PC'd them for 40 mins at 15 PSI.I also didnt bring them up to temp blazing fast, it took about 20 or more mins to get to a boil, then build pressure. I waited about 5 hours and everything was pretty cool. nothing was close to being hot.
So when I put them in my SAB and unwrapped these bad boys I noticed the caps didnt snap on or off any longer, Its like they were just suggly on top, they didnt seal any more, like they changed shape. what happened? did I use to much PSI when I pressure cooked them? im very disappointed as I wanted to start my process today. I still took about 7 of them and put a drop from my syringe on them just to see what happens. But i know they arnt sealed correctly and need to know what I did wrong, so I can make new ones.

You did nothing wrong. That is expected and preferred. Trust me, you'll learn to love it

Ya, having to snap them off creates micro-gusts of air, or at least my paranoia tells me that. I prefer the ones that can simply lift off, they allow steadier hand movements while working within your still air box.

20 mins @15 is long enough. If you add dung go 25-30min.

20 sounds risky. 35 - 45 minutes at 17 psi has been working great for me w/ a 12 minute vent.

Do you guys fill your rounds a little extra to compensate for boil off, or does the level stay pretty much the same throughout the pressure cooking?
