Are you sure you have enough water??? That has NEVER happened to me..... r u using a gas stove or electric??

i use a small little grill type round plate, fits perfectly in my pot

you can make balls of aluminum foil to cover the bottom. then you can place the jars on them. foil won't burn and can deal with temps.. pmost likely your pressure cooker if aluminum anyway. Try it.. I had to once when i could not find the tray for my pressure cooker.
