I got APE's on grain now Mush. Pretty stoked.

This isn't the biggest mushroom ever but definitely clone worthy at 2oz. I wish I could print it but there is a tiny patch of pin mold in this shoe box so not going to risk it.

It's random, and from an old thread of mine...

I managed to grow some Azurescens outdoors (in Zone 9). I've often wondered how many of these
have lived outdoors in my part of the world.

The bed didn't fruit for 2 years because I put it down late.

A casing as a cure-all for PE blobbing has been shown to not be reliable. There's a bunch of theories to avoid it, such as consolidation in jars, consolidation in the tub before FC, increased FAE, casing, etc. None have been shown to be 100%. It's not a "regular" cube and exhibits a lot of unique traits. One of them stole my wallet once.

I'm not saying that it takes all blobs out of the picture but I'd say it's about 97 percent less for me.

Emphasis on the important part. PE is weird and does different shit at different times. I've done the traditional PE casing method a few times and always got blobs. Going to give it another go soon to try out consolidating and extra FAE. Your PE grows are badass. I'd love to hear more about your FCs to see if what else could be narrowed down to reduce blobs.

How's your isolation project coming, by the way?

I've grown more APE than any other variety and never experienced blobs. However, it'll pin like CRAZY and have tons of little blob looking aborts. You can avoid that by consolidating and casing, but it's not really an issue. I spawn/case/fruit the same day and with a normal clone or MS, usually harvest in 19-21 days.

Here's a post regarding this subject I made a bit ago. But here's what my tubs usually looked like without late casing or consolidating before fruiting:

APE is easy to grow. It's just thirstier than others and usually finicky at MS. Definitely helps with a casing, IME, but others disagree.

word. Ive been going back and forth between casing and not because I havent noticed a big difference between casing and not with the other cube varieties i've been messing around with lately. Good to know some people find that casing PE's makes them grow in a more desired way? easier to harvest way for sure

The largest cluster from my harvest today! Cased for second flush with 5050 gypsum. Second flush, total weight approx 1.3kg from 5qt RGS spawn, 650g coir. The first flush was less, but also uncased. Guessing the casing climate and calcium gave them the boost they needed.

I'm pretty sure the scale read 140g. Pretty excited, because the bottom of the sub is still covered with fresh little pins!
I'll get more, and better pics, later.

Nice! I have the same scale.

Reishi tub (2/21) spawned 1/31. Just starting to get yellowing at the base of the primordia.

Here is that same tub from 2/10.

After my first grow, 2x flushes.. i used the substrate on some pots with plants. I literally mixed the substrat with some potting soil breaking it up in small pieces and mixing well w the potting soil. No pasteurization or anything  and for my surprise I have pinns. Looks like the mycelium like to grow with my Hawaiian baby woodrose. Its summer and humidity had been at 85% here. It has been raing alot, not on my pots.. but I wasent expecting.
