Because the owners are stalling, many top free agents are still unsigned. This seems to have worked out for them because many agents have reduced their contract demands in a slow market.

To get to the point, the union is now holding spring training for unsigned players, which I believe has only happened once before.

So who's going to win this year? I keep hearing the Yankees and Dodgers. The Cubs should be good. I'm afraid there will be at least a couple more "wait till next years" for the White Sox.

Yea its crazy how many players are unsigned still.

Giants had me worried for a while but made a coupld good pickups with McCutchen and Longoria. Some folks are unhappy about having a team full of old men but the reality is Posey and
his crew are still at their peak and its not time for a full rebuild, despite losing 98 games last year.

I think Bums got a fire in his belly after the shenanigans last season as well.

Can't wait to watch some ball!

Pirates fans are mad as hell about losing McCutchen.

Red Sox got J.D.  Think it will be between the Yanks, Bosox, and Astros for the top three.  I will be happy if the Rockies get in the playoffs but of course have no chance as they are my team.  Cubs, after last year, they have to prove they have something left.  I just don't see the Dodgers winning it.

But on to the season in one month.  With just the NBA going and NHL I hate this time of year as a sports fan.  I like to go to a game without spending 100 dollars.

God damn fuck pointless ass spring training baseball!!!!!!!!

Mad Bum gets a fractured hand and an entire season gets flushed down the fucking drain before it even starts. I am beyond pissed.

Is he really out for the year?  I vacation to San Fran and see Giant games.  I love his mentality and his fuck you all attitude.  It is such a cool vibe at those games and the party atmosphere.  I know the area quite well.

Will google it.  It was amazing watching a Giants game when he was pitching and how much people were into it.  Then the next day where the fans could give a shit less as far as being so into every inning and the pitching performance.  I feel your pain man.  As a sports fan.

He's gone for at least a few months, long enough for them to fall out of contention before the all star break.

It's mainly frustrating because ive been listening to the local radio heads hype this new season up every day for the past month, and of course Bum was the center of the hype. "Ohhh what's he gonna do against Kershaw at the home opener blah blah blah..."

I'll tell ya what he's gonna do, he's gonna watch Johnny Cueto take his spot.

Those bastards were going on and on about the Turner injury in LA too, talking about "lets just finish this weekend with no injuries."

Cheese and rice, kill me now.

Don't listen to L.A. talking heads, and yes on game from a World Series last year but do you know how many fans would give for all the championships SF has?  Was interesting listing to a SF hometown broadcaster that was so jaded by the season the Giant's were having and him just having that level of cynicism.  Was kind of amusing in a way when you are used to winning compared to the crap that was last years team and him having to endure broadcasting them.

They have upgraded of course.  N.L. West is good besides the Padres.  Looking forward to opening day.

I meant the SF radio cats, mainly Murph and Mac on KNBR. I listen to them almost every morning.

Anyway, the more i think and read about this, it's essentially like this injury shut the door on this teams championship window. They were trying to make one last run with a group of veterans who have proved themselves plenty in the past. Last year was a fluke ( so they said), just a combination of injuries and weird luck on the field. This year was supposed to be the rebound year, the year we challenged the Doyers and went for that 4th title shot.

Oh well. Like you said, we really have nothing to complain about in SF. Other teams would be stoked on 3 Championships.

I just hope the Sharks stay hot!

Guessing you mean San Jose.  Avalanche fan, been a long time since they even made the playoffs.  But not going to turn it into a NHL thread.  It's wonderful when you live in a city with all four major sports teams and is a sports town.

Still, I have been to so many Rockies games but San Fran games have a special vibe to them where it is like a party almost.  How happy people are going to it.  3 championships helps of course but San Fran is just an amazing city.

Fuck the Niners though and the Silicon valley shit that was made for them outside the city.  Best of luck with your teams.  Saw Madison twice.  Once in S.F. and once in Denver.  glad his injury is not to severe as I am a fan of his.  Going to L.A. to see the Angels in 3 weeks and Trout and the beach.  You can't swim in the ocean in San Fran or Seattle, lol.

Life is good.

So Ty Blach came out and totally surprised me, and so did the entire bullpen. Kershaw was Kershaw, but 1 run was enough to win.

The Dodgers are having a ceremony Saturday, apparently they are celebrating losing game 7 at home. Or maybe they are excited about having their sewage overflow onto the stands and field, what a shit franchise. :haha:

With a 200 million dollar payroll back from the strike when the expos had such an amazing team.  I really don't feel bad for them and that game seven loss. Will be visiting my birthplace soon and will see a Angels-Bosox game. fuck teams like the Yankees and Dodgers. You could put Boston in there as well but their championships were all the credit is due, to PTSD's  Like Armstrong and his victories they should be stripped of those two championships.

I know a lot of Giants fans who are glad they lost the World Series in 02 necause they feel it would be tainted by Barry.

So are there any baseball fans left on the shroomery? I'm surprised that this thread never took off.

Things are looking decent in Boston.
