Also, do you usually have to mist these or are these pretty set and forget?
I would probably just do the one hole if you want something more set and forget. The 2 hole tubs are used for things needing more FAE, I rarely use them anymore for classic cubes. Casing works nice too in dialing in.

Awesome thats definitely what ill do then.
If i use your micropore tek do you think one layer would be sufficient or would you recommend 2?
And would you recommend casing at the same time as spawning or waiting until 100% colonization?

I follow his tek pretty much to the "T".The one bottom hole setup, and using 1 layer MP tape for top holes,2 layers for bottom holes.Works great with my dry conditions.

I thought there was just one hole on the bottom of the long sides. Are there also top holes that i just cant see in the picture?

That tub has a cluster of 5 1/4" holes up at the top on the short sides. I think you need to reread the OP, I discuss these in there.

He has a different top hole config in that image.
check his Pastywhyte's Easy Micropore Dialed Monos tek. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/23651523#23651523Quote:
Pastywhyte said: I also have some that I do a hybrid hole configuration. I drill 5 1/4" holes in two rows, and inch apart and staggered. When you go to fruit it pull the tape off and then cover the bottom row of holes. Once the pinset is in you can pull it off completely to boost the FAE. Remember to case and mist if needed. Notice the dry rings, they can help dial the tub in once you know what to look for.

Oh yea i saw that. For some reason i figured that that cluster of holes was optional and all you really needed were the bottom holes. That makes more sense now tho.
One last question is to help with dialing it in, would you recommend casing at the same time as spawning or at full colonization?

Techically even having holes at all is optional. It's all about how you dial things in.

I still use my mini with that trapezoid hole setup. Tape on the bottom row until desired conditions and all.

This is awesome, I am Thinking or shrinking down to a mini next run and try it out. So in your opinion Pasty the best set and forget is 4, 1.25 holes. Tight on the bottom loose up top, throw a casing on till i get it dialed??

Coir and verm. It's the easiest and safest to prep plus it holds a fuckton of water.

Compared to a shoebox would you say these require less/the same/or more maintenance to keep up surface conditions?

Oh alright. If I work 6-8 hour days every day, do you think I could properly maintain one of these? I'm gone from home from 9:00-3:00 and sometimes 9-5:00
