Videodrome is Cronenberg’s best film, imo, and one of my all time favorite sci fi films.

As for “forgotten” films, anyone remember a movie from the mid 1980s called “The Quest”, or if you live in Australia, “Frog Dreaming”?  I loved this movie a lot as a kid, and I’ve never met anyone irl who knows it if I mention it.

This movie was weird as fuck. Saw it at this party when I was a kid. Turned out later the dad of the family having the party was a pedo. I remember him making some weird comments. Also they had this mug with a weird suggestive cartoon about kids checking out each others' junk. None of which has much to do with the movie I guess, but it was weird too.

LOL, van damme! I've been watching him and that knucklehead steve seagall, lol.

I first thought of "Quest For Fire" which is a pretty offbeat film too.

Any terry pratchett fans? There's 2 solid animated adaptions of his books:

Soul Music is my favorite but the Wyrd Sisters is pretty interesting as well.

 I almost forgot that I loved playing Discworld video game on my PS1. It as one of the first games that I played on it. Have you ever played it? You should give it a try if you like point-and-click adventure games.

Here's a video of it

I never watched the movies or read the books though. Maybe I should read/watch them someday.

As for the topic, I almost forgotten about Gattaca and The Game until recently.

Didn't know they made a game :strokebeard:

There's at least one or two live action adaptions as well, like HogFather.

I highly recommend them, especially the animated ones. The art is a bit old but the stories are great. They are both up on YouTube as well. Really charming movies, I think they were animated TV specials actually. At least soul music was.

We watched Gattaca in science class, pretty interesting movie for sure.

If you decide to play the video game be prepared to get stuck a lot because the game is very difficult.

I remember spending hours try to figure out where to go next and what to do when I first played it, but that's a normal problem with point-and-click adventure games.

I learned about the movies and books years ago when I decided to play the game again, but I just forgot about them until now. I might watch/read them out soon.

The main reason I wanted to check them out is because I loved the humor in the game and I wanted more of it.

I think Gattaca is very underrated and it doesn't get talked about enough.

The land that time forgot

--------------------
“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.” (attributed to Alexis de Tocqueville political philosopher Circa 1835)

Might try emulating it some time as my PS2 stopped working years ago. Oldschool point and click games can be pretty damn tough  they can have some great trippy art though.

Soul Music has Christopher Lee voicing death which is really epic :awesomenod:

I haven't read the books but the humor in the movies is great, definitely has a classic british vibe mixed with some great fantasy.

Here's a good clip from Soul Music:

I love the brown acid reference at the end :rofldrunk: there's a lot of funny moments like that. Here's one of my favorite parts:

Death and the Secret of the Infinite (Terry Pratchett's Discworld)
