ok, so dante gets lost in a forest. he tries to climb to the top of this mountain (i think) and his path is blocked by three beasts (symbolic of the 3 "types" of sin in hell). he can't get past them and out of the dark forest, so he goes back. when he backs into the forest he sees the ghost of virgil. virgil tells him that he can get him out of the forest, but the path they have to take will take them through hell, purgatory, heaven, and then back to the world. so basically, there isn't a whole lot of reason for him doing this except virgil being crazy. sorry if that explanation was wrong, or sucked.

it's a good book, though.

well beatrice was the love of his life, and so, when virgil explained to him where they'd be going, he promised to let dante meet with beatrice in heaven.. though ive never read paradiso, so i wouldn't know how the meeting went.
