Stop changing things up on it. I would go back to how you had it the first time, with a smaller baggy.

Thanks for the input. I will switch it back to in the jar and leave it alone

I currently have 8 brf jars fruiting. In bagged jars per tek. The issue is they are all fruiting on the side I even have a couple jars where the pins are litterally growing down.

I keep misting the top. I've had a couple pins push through and they matured pretty quickly I harvested and dried them.

I know patience is a virtue I know.

The reason my side pins are such a thing is because I used kerr widemouth jars and the cake shrunk a bit and that opened up a lot of space for a great micro climate.

Wondering if I should throw them in a bigger container. I have some empty shoeboxes. Any reason why I couldn't layer in some vermiculite, put the fruiting cakes on jar lids and leave the shoebox lid flipped for fae.

Switching from "Bod's easy AF cheapest way" to shoebox [Re: Theshroommeister]
    #25780271 - 01/30/19 10:48 PM (4 years, 11 months ago)

After a week of them being fully colonized, I birthed three cakes, gave them a rinse to remove the top verm layer, put them back in their jars, added a new ~1/4" verm layer, and misted until moist.

I've been misting daily, but after a week I've seen no pins and there doesn't seem to be any colonization of the new verm.

It's been cold here so my temperature has likely been a bit low, and it's very dry. Might it make sense to switch to shoebox tek? I think it might help the humidity problems by being a more contained environment, but worry I may be rushing things and just have a problem with patience.

Had similar issues, have to maintain surface conditions better then when its hot, mist a little more, and watch it....

Incredibly cold.. but warm the room, maintain surface conditions, mist a little more, and be patient, will take longer to fruit.. generally much slower..

Success the fruits overcame their jar confinement. They do look a little funny.

think my house sits at around 16 degrees c
we live in a wooded area and light isnt great, would i need artificial light?

and last 1
if i buy a spore syringe but dont use it all, how long can you keep it

Heating pads = failure with mushrooms
Use a space heater heat a room.

Light is good. Some people use natural lighting. I like artificial

Spore syringes last years

First timer here! I followed the steps to the fruiting process. It has been 10 days since I birthed the cakes and put them back into the jars. In a couple of my jars I am seeing an odd white-brown liquid-ish substance located on the inside wall of the jar. I tried digging into the forums and discovered this may be metabolites? But as this is my first time I want to be sure that my jars are not contaminated. Any advice is much appreciated!

Thanks so much for this TEK.  I'm doing my first grow now and I'm in the consolidation phase.  I'll probably do the ziploc bag method for this grow, but out of curiosity, how much more yield does the shoebox method have over fruiting in the jars?

thanks again!

How many flushes could one typically expect to get using this technique?

Are there any particular steps you follow after a flush?

Flushes have nothing to do with the grow method. Number of flushes depends on how healthy of a grow you can produce and maintain.
You don't do anything flushes just happen.

Depends how you make the shoebox. More spawn = more mushrooms

Thanks for the clarification.

After a flush what would you do to maintain a healthy grow? Do you add another layer of vermiculite etc?

Mist if needed. Or water if needs more than misting. Basically replenishment of moisture is all that's necessary
