Didn't smell good, but my problem with dfa is slow growth compared to the other agar recipes I use

I like seeing and hearing about everyone's techniques and tidbits for myco work. Helps me to question the way I do things and challenge myself to be better. I like it even more when ppl don't get all butt hurt when questioned about why they do things the way they do

I confess I’m very excited about starting to grow in earnest after essentially being on a break since May. I built a greenhouse out of plastic shelves and 7 mill Panda plastic and stick on zippers. The thermostat controlled heater and humidistat controlled ultrasonic humidifier have it dialed in at 80 F and 90 RH... excited to see how things fruit in there

I confess I'm so happy with everything for the fist time. I harvested my sparse batch of KSSS and broke up the big bin into two trays to get it ready for the tent. Everything else is soaking and getting ready for the tent. Hopefully my RH issues are over. So much work today setting up all the new stuff. I sprayed my tent down with rubbing alcohol and wiped it down and dried it out and attached my new controller.
As for the hoods all the dishes I did look awesome. No contams. It was so worth saving up for months for this moment. Speaking of contams I've only had a few. Some on some older bags of edibles that were ready to go anyways and one shoe box that got a tiny patch of pin mold.
Also my cats a fucking asshole. She must have decided to eat too fast again and as I was typing this she puked all over my clean shelves I just wiped down to put new bags on. I was about done for the day.

I confess mycology is keeping me from losing my freakin mind and blowing the fk up.
My wife and I have our nieces and nephew for the next 2wks unexpectedly. My kids are grown and only one here has children, she takes great care of her kids. my middle child has 2 but she's 1500 miles away and my son is smart, he's waiting.
The kids that just came over a couple hours ago are 2,4 and 8 years old. I'm not used to all the noise and shit that comes with little kids.
Being able to go into my work room and totally immerse myself into my sab and microscope work have allowed me to decompress.
My health problems make things bad enough, then dump a pile of life cap in my lap and it's enough to make anyone develope a tic. Finding this hobby has been a real life saver.

I believe children need discipline and structure, these kids have none. I guarantee they will before the 2wks up.
I confess, I love mycology and tolerate children.

I'm with you.
When I do something I'm interested in I get extreme laser focus. It's very theraputic for me to go to my work room and zone in on agar or harvesting or whatever. In the beautiful, beautiful silence...
Also, I must confess, it wasn't until a month ago I realized flow hoods BLEW air not sucked.

Eeeewe. I confess I neglected some much needed cleaning. Tomorrow all the jars are going in the dishwasher. The dishwasher here has been broken for years but I just fixed it today myself since I didn't feel like washing out all the dried nasty shit by hand. Seems those dumbasses that used to live here broke a plastic plate in it and the pieces got caught up in the works.

I Confess.
The actual mixing the coir with the spawn grain is my least favorite part. I have used liners and no liners in my tubs. Neither is great for me. It's like use a liner now and be easy clean up or it can be a PITA later.
Sorry just venting. My real bitch is running a space heater in my basement. It's cold AF here and that heater is expensive to run. And that just keeps it at 64f. And it's a potential fire hazard.

This is something I've never understood. I don't use liners at all because cleaning up consists of dumping the sub and wiping out the tub.
A fully colonized sub pulls away from the tub, dumps easily and leaves behind little to clean up.
I once had an improperly pasteurized hpoo sub that never colonized. It required a little extra clean up but it didn't take any longer than cutting a liner.

I confess it takes me longer to cut a liner than it does to clean a tub. I hate cutting liners lol

Liners don't discourage side pins. Proper surface conditions, and properly hydrated bulk substrates do.
