This thread is dedicated to cultivators using PF style BRF cakes as spawn in bulk substrates.

This thread is the "Tek"

How I spawn brf to bulk is pretty simple given you have basic knowledge of what we're doing here.The amounts and containers will change,but the procedure is the same.
Here's how I like to spawn my brf to bulk,shoebox style! :awesomenod:

First I gather and prep my supplies.(boxes,cakes,tools,prepped coir,etc.)

Birth the cakes and rinse them off.(I chose to spread the 8 cakes across 3 containers)

Grate them into the container you have chosen.

Add your desired ratio of prepped coir.(I like 1:2)

(leave a little coir for a top layer if you want to add one)
Mix it up good.Level it out.

(Optional)Add a top layer.(I do around 1/4")Level it out.

Put the lid on and let them colonize. :super:

Some results:

APE will grow on BRF to Bulk!

3 APE brf cakes spawned to 2qts coir/verm.

2nd flush.

One Ape cake spawned 1:2 in my 2.5qt "one cake" mono.

3 cakes spawned:

Tub 1:
This was 4 half pint brf cakes spawned to 2qt coir/verm,with a light "pseudo casing" applied at spawn.

Wet weight was just shy of 260gm first flush.

Cd/dvd roll side project.
Spawned one brf cake to 1 pint coir/verm.Uncased.

This one took almost 2 weeks longer to fruit than the above tub in spite of being spawned on the same date.Came to about 70gm wet first flush.

Tub 2:
This tub is 3 brf cakes spawned to 2 1/4qt coir/verm,no casing.

Had to harvest this late.They outgrew the tub.Came to roughly 210gm wet.Stems were hollow on the bigger ones.

02/21 Second Flush

Twin 2.5qt mini one cake monos:

I grated 1 brf cake to 2 half pints coir/verm in each of these.One I top layer cased at spawn,the other no casing.
Spawned on 1/14.Put into fruiting on 1/21.

Update: Harvested top layer cased tub.

First flush was just shy of the 70g wet per half pint cake spawned.

First flush right at 65g wet.

Here's a single cake spawned to 2 parts coir/verm.Different container,but still hit the 70g wet per cake spawned mark. :super:

27qt Mini Mono
8 half pint cakes were grated and spawned to about 5qt coir/verm and given a very light top layer on 1/22.
