Heya Inthepit, I've got a kitchen in the back of the car with a gas cooker haha. Glasses are great, it's hard to find wide mouth canning jars in Australia so you have to have a bit of ingenuity!

Sorry, dumb question that's prob been asked here already- but does this significantly increase yield?
If you have 5 BRF cakes ready to fruit normal PF Tek style- how much more on average do you think you'd get if you shredded them and spawned to bulk? (granted you don't get contammed)

I have no idea, I've just been reading for a few weeks, but my understanding of this is that it depends on how good you are at fruiting cakes. The mycelium actually digests little to none of the coco coir and all the nutrients comes from your spawn (Or in this case, brf cake). What the bulk sub does is provide more water to the mycelium. And since mushrooms are ~90% water, you get more mushies than if you didn't have enough water. Noone can tell you because it depends on how well you manage the cake. It's an amount more and less work. If you could somehow provide enough water to a cake being fruited, you'd potentially get the same amount of mushrooms. Bulk does some other things like increased surface area and I don't know how that impacts things.

Have 10 half pint cakes. Which one will be better to spawn them all in one 18 litters tub or to spread them in 3 6 litters tubs?

I would split them. Contams in one cake will fuck up all 10 if you put them in one tub.

This thread is great, but I read about 10 pages and still have a basic question...
When do I shred my cakes, when they are 100% colonized, or do I wait a week (after 100%) until consolidated to shred?

No need to wait for consolidation. You will be shredding these cakes into pieces and they will have to start colonizing all over again.
Definitely wait til they are 100% though.

What to do...?
I have 6 1/2 pint jars, but only 3 are just about ready.
1 is fully colonized, starting to pin.
1 is fully colonized
1 is at about 80% and will probably take another 3-5 days to get to 100%
Do I risk it and shred these three in the next day or so? Or do I wait till I have 3 jars at 100%, even if one has already started pinning?

been a few since i have posted here, so i expected nothing from this tub ratio was 1qt brf cake and 3qts coir. My thinking at least I got something that is better then nothing

Got 2 BRF cakes into a shoebox. Was going for three but the third had some possible cobweb growing on top of the dry verm layer, so decided to just put a bag over it and keep it away from the other two jars.
Also took a couple of the pins from one of the jars and put them on some agar plates that never ended up growing anything. Wish me luck!

More than likely is was just myc growing through the verm barrier.. common new cake grower mistake.

No pic unfortunately... I did notice that it just appeared to be on the top of the verm layer, and it did not appear go through the verm layer from the cake.
I did some searching mid procedure and saw that this was fairly common, but b/c it didnt go all the way through the verm layer, I figure I would keep it away from the others.

I harvest first flush do i need to dunk or just heavy mist for second flush? What this tek said?

I dunk after each harvest for 24 hrs. Rinse and re-layer the verm for next flush.
I also change my perlite every week.. probably unnecessary but i love a fresh FC.

I grate them and spawn to coco they are not cakes i also dunk cakes for 24 hours..
