I was just adding some mystery to my grow 
What I actually used was a cup of sterilized BRF, 11 half pint cakes and 6 liters of coir and verm. I tried to mix everything thoroughly and added a thin layer of coir on top, like a pint or half pint. Also, I used an unmodified tub (thanks to bod for the tek) and when it started to pin I removed the lid completely.
I'm going to try it again this weekend, I have some cakes almost done. If I get consistent results then I'll post back here.

11 cakes is only 2.7 quarts of spawn, that's crazy you can get such a huge flush with such a little amount, maybe brf cakes are better than grain?!
A solid brf cake looks way more happy than a weak grain jar that falls apart when you shake it, maybe its stronger mycelium, more nutricious food in the brf?

I spawned 9 cakes of B+ to 4.5qts of coir with 1 pint of BRF and 1 pint of Verm mixed in all together then immediately added about 1/4 inch top layer of coir.
I used a 54qt Starlite gasket box for one of Pastywytes ez dial tubs with a clear liner.
Spawned 10/16 and left the lid latched down and the holes double taped with cloth micropore tape.
Today 10/20 - 4 days later

The substrate seems to be colonizing pretty well. I took the lid off for pictures only. I noticed a very strong smell sort of like toxic chemicals when I had my head down close to the sub for inspection. Is this normal or do I not have enough GE? Or is it something worse like mold/contams? I really hope this is normal.... I feel like the tub is doing quite well though?

Hey man I'm a noob to growing anything so idk if I have any conventional wisdom in the matter honestly lol. But enzo said it worked for him so I gave it a shot. Not advisable because it molds/contams? I've done a lot of reading and haven't seen anyone saying NOT to add BRF.

BRF cakes are sterilized within closed and filtered containers where the only inoculate is of your choosing. Coir and vermiculite are themselves non-nutritive and for that reason used as bulk substrate. There are plenty of things to read here that would omit adding nutrient rich flower to a bulk substrate.

Oh well I guess it's a little too late at this point. I'll post some updates of how it goes.

what a TC will tell you is don't add BRF to your sub
what enzo said he did was add sterilised BRF, not BRF out of the packet
I hope it goes well but I have literally never seen any tek calling for BRF in a sub
can you point us towards one?

I never said I didn't sterilize the BRF. Does there need to be a written tek for something to work properly? Enzo has proven results with pictures.

I never said I didn't sterilize the BRF. Does there need to be a written tek for something to work properly? Enzo has proven results with pictures.
I get what you are saying, but enough people produce awesome harvests without the unneeded increase in contam risk associated with included uncolonised brf to their subs. I hope it works!

It hardly matters that it was sterilized beforehand. Nutrient sources are colonized in isolation to limit potential contamination. Adding subsequent nutrients, open air, at spawn is begging for failure.

Sterilisation could almost make things worse as the nutrient source is a blank slate and free to be rapidly colonised by whatever gets to it first right?
